This is hardly work-related, but it IS landlord related, and I know you guys may have a lot of knowledge about how shitty renting can be and how to go about issues with it. Long story short, the city – (Chico, TX. Very small town) – shut off my water over a grudge with my landlord. I’ll add – I have absolutely NOTHING to do with this feud. I’m already planning on talking to a lawyer the second my paycheck comes in so I can afford to. Is this something I can actually take action on? My LL is making it seem like I just have to wait for them to figure it out, which reportedly will take 2 weeks. I’ll lose my job if I can’t shower. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

It's fantastic to see and hopefully this will demonstrate to the public what a display of worker solidarity can do. The BBC look like fools right now.
Rant time. This boss of mine is a middle manager with no real authority. I’ve been in that position before, and I know it sucks. He seemed to have genuine solidarity with us. He also seemed to really dislike the upper management. He was pretty hands-off, and any time he told us to do something, it was always “Look, don’t shoot the messenger. I know it’s stupid, and I don’t like it any more than you do. But I’ve been told that we are supposed to…” etc. Like I said, I understand it sucks being a middle manager, and so I didn’t hold it against him. He seemed cool… until his own ass was in the fire with upper management. Then he threw us all under the bus. He started snitching on us about everything and scolding us like he was our dad. Now half of our department is laid…
What’s the point of working hard?
Seriously, I used to sweat at work. I would cry after work. I worked so hard, washed dishes, did the laundry, changed diapers, read to the children, covered shifts, write news letters etc…and my ex coworkers just ghosted me when I asked them to be a reference for me. I’m so lost because we were a good team. We worked so well together. I’m legit so quiet and shy and I would never hurt fly. I’m so lost. So completely lost. I’ve been crying all day. I would’ve done anything for them. Edit: spelling
Hey Kids, Let’s Put on a General Strike!
Folks are saying workers need to organize & unionize first – this isn’t practical, as we’ll just be fired. Nearly half of the states are “right to work”, meaning folks can be fired for no reason. Mutual aid & guarantee of mutual aid first!! Probably other steps I don’t know first! Which requires organization, and trustworthy organizers. THAT needs to be one of the first steps. There will be obstacles! This won’t happen overnight. But IT WON’T HAPPEN AT ALL IF WE NEVER START. Anyone who lists reasons why this will never happen or how it’ll be too hard are agents of the enemy, are trying to stop this before it starts, and should be ignored. As obstacles arise naturally, we’ll strategize alternate ways. Focus on the yesses, the possibilities, the ways it CAN happen. I can dedicate some time to this, are there others here who can? I am…
You have probably heard all of those terms above and more. Most of you here have at least some level of class consciousness so I am here to clarify some things and propose some terms that we can all unite behind to get more people to gain class consciousness. In my opinion, the working class gaining class consciousness on a massive scale is priority #1 if we want to have any chance at changing things in a meaningful way. So here it goes: Our society is broken down into two major classes: the working class and the capital class. What makes someone working class vs capital class? Working class – A person who makes their ends meet through selling their labor. Examples would include: service workers, medical care workers, teachers, construction workers, plumbers, electricians, etc. working class members HAVE to have a job in our current economic system or they…
Hi Everybody, I’m a long time lurker whose gonna be quitting a small SaaS company soon (read as: CEO doesn’t wanna hire more people and wants to keep as much money to himself as possible) Without getting into what I actually do for my job, my company has done the following things that I know or think is illegal: -Makes everybody sign an NDA that has a “don’t discuss your wages, if you do we’ll fire you” clause. I plan to report this. -Reaches out to clients and begs them for BBB (Better Business Bureau) reviews. In exchange for a 5 star review, we will give that company a 5 star review on Google/whatever they want and/or additional products for our SaaS. The companies do not state in their BBB reviews what we are giving them in exchange for these reviews. We do not give them anything if they give…
