Majority of my job is doing nothing until I’m needed. It makes me feel bad for all of the people who are working hard labor minimum wage jobs for $15/hour. They work their fricken asses off, probably have 2 or 3 jobs, making ends meet and I’m in this office job doing nothing because that’s my job. I’m unsure why degree titles are a privilege, especially when they get you jobs like mine where I use NOTHING from my degree. I’m frustrated, sad for the lower income, working class. I’m bored at work, and wonder why things are so hard for people who need to work in general. I wish we lived in a world where more people were encouraged to expand their curiosities and follow their dreams. I know the world is more complex than that- but it’s just a wish. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk about…

Essentially what the title says. My job, after three years here, is trying to force everyone to use retinal scanners (made by Paychex) to log when they get to work, when they go to lunch, etc. This would still be an issue but not as big of a one if they had given us a heads up and sent out new written policy or contracts. However they haven’t done any of that. They just installed the machines over the weekend without telling anyone and now they’re saying everyone has to be scanned and get set up. Is there anything I can do? I live in the south and work for a law firm if that helps. (Also, I recently started sending out my resume and applying for a new job but I’m worried about what could happen in the interim)
The Boss loves my coffee.
My boss is the type who constantly complains about young people wasting our money, how we expect everything to be given to us, how none of us are frugal, we'll spend our money on $6 coffee's from Starbucks and eating out every meal. Then every morning he walks over to my desk and asks for some of my pour over coffee that I just brewed. He says it's better than Starbucks and “cost him less too, hahaha…” and then tells me all about the fine restaurants he eats out at every night. “Have you ever been to name drops expensive restaurant with $50 appetizers? No?! Oh OP, you don't know what you're missing, you've got to try it.” Then he complains about the big bad IRS picking on them for misclassifying their employees as contractors to avoid tax burdens… which, he does. Then he invites his buddy out to lunch…

Have they not fined the parents?
Told to come in last minute, not asked.
My boss texted me this morning saying I had to come in early last minute even though I asked him Saturday and he said I was working my normal hours. I even have a screenshot of the original schedule. What should I do?
Manager pay isn’t that great I guess
I recently got promoted to a lower management position at a hotel I work at. My pay got bumped up to $18 an hour from $16 when I was working night audit. I love the property and the people there, but I still talk to everyone about wages and I recently found out both the maintenance workers make $20 an hour. I'm the most senior employee at the hotel, even the general manager is new. I want to ask to get bumped up to at least $20, but the raise only happened in January. It's also my first management position, so I don't know if it would be better to lay low and farm the resume experience until I can find a better job. They also don't offer benefits. What do y'all think I should do? I don't struggle to pay my rent or bills or anything but I've carried…
