Warren Buffett’s right-hand man Charlie Munger suggests that we should be more content with our current situation. “People are less happy about the state of affairs than they were when things were way tougher,” Munger said earlier this year. “It’s weird for somebody my age, because I was in the middle of the Great Depression when the hardship was unbelievable.” Best known as Berkshire Hathaway’s vice chairman and Buffett’s long-time business partner, Munger also serves as the chairman of Daily Journal, a newspaper publisher with a sizable stock portfolio of its own. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/things-were-way-tougher-charlie-150000169.html Charlie Munger is an entitled 99 year old billionaire POS born with a silver spoon up his ass. His daddy was a lawyer and granddad a politician. Got a free college education on the GI Bill after landing a cushy meterology job (vs. getting sent to the front lines) during WW2. is there any recourse for this?
I am in a union in Michigan and we have 3 shifts at my job, I am on 3rd shift. My coworker and I are being made to do things that the people on 1st and 2nd shift (who are in the exact same position as us), are not made to do at all. Is there something we can do or file a grievance? We don't get paid more, they just force us to do it or we get in trouble if we don't do it, when they get away without doing their job duties. How should I move forward?
how many of you make less than 60k? age?
Pretty new to this subreddit, browsing over the posts I couldn't help but notice how many people on this subreddit are getting job offers for minimum wage or just over minimum wage, my question is, how many of you make less than 60k, how old are you? I don't mean to come off as condescending or negative, just curious as to the demographics of this subreddit, as I do enjoy the content posted here, and am very much in support of workers rights and unions. I'm a union worker, under 30 years old (barely), and earn over 60k (gross) annually.
…because they replaced all my senior engineers with junior engineers and I've been having to do all their work for them while they learn to code (one didn't know how to send an email for christ's sake). Meanwhile the crazy demanding client won't use the proper channels to report issues. I tried my damndest to fix the situation by working with my TOM and melted down (at home) when they hired yet another underqualified person… at my salary 😀 I asked for stress leave aaaand… Now they've made me agree to move teams or quit, and they're trying to replace me (lead) with yet another junior and there is no way in hell I am doing work for that team anymore after getting told I can't handle the stress of the position I was excelling in for 3 years prior to their takeover. I'm looking elsewhere because this is b.s.…
If Arkansas could do it, what is stopping other states from doing it? How are we regressing instead of progressing? This is messed up because instead of making wages higher, they're just going to give the jobs to kids for the same crummy wages who do not know any better.
Bro did absolutely nothing wrong
I think UBI, a greater safety net, and more projects based on research or discovery could be useful. We need to get away from our obsessions with mind-numbing demeaning work.
