Bait and Switch at new job
Hey all. I recently started a new job and I wanted to get some input on my current situation. So, the job is a coordinator role to provide account and sales support to one of the account managers (sales reps, basically). Fair enough, and the pay is an increase to what I was making before. However, what they failed to tell me is that the account manager I would be supporting is an older guy who is going to be semi-retiring and moving to Florida in the next 3-6 months. He will be relinquishing all but his biggest account which he will continue to manage part time, and the rest is to be given to me. What this essentially means is that they hired me for one thing but are soon going to have me doing another. I don’t know if this was done knowingly/maliciously, or if this guy only…
Do you all respond to job rejections?
I have been job searching for quite a while. I am currently underemployed, looking for something with more hours but I do have an income which I’m grateful for. I’m simultaneously looking for new jobs while trying to pick up extra hours here. I get a lot of job rejections, some surprising. I always feel like the in person interview requests go really well until I don’t hear back for a week and then I get that standard rejection email, even after 3 or 4 rounds. So far, I ignore them. Maybe it’s pride that I don’t really care what they think anymore and don’t want much to do with them. Does it make me look like an asshole or is it totally a fine career move to just ignore them?
i could use y’all’s help,please.
My fiancee started working at a gas station, the mgr is a horribly bitter woman who makes his life absolutely hell… But the problems are these, she's been stealing merchandise for years, she smokes right next to the gas thanks while talking shit and making fun of everyone… She calls white people crackers (she's white) African-American as (expletive deleted) she's threatened to keep him from getting other employment and ALL this is on camera. We can't find a corporate number for him to voice his concerns, i will hold off on naming the station specifically, but any ideas on how to deal with this?
UK cosmetics company's Lush just released a statement to all their North American employees. “Now that the Holiday is over to safeguard the health of business no pay increase at all at this time. To ensure growth, profit, and sales, all staff will receive an email at 6 p.m. with more insight as to how this decision came into place.” This is a company that promotes themselves on being a fair trade, organic, progressive, etc… business that just told all of their staff for the last year they are striving to pay all their employees a living wage. Then they followed this “we can't afford to pay you” statement telling all their staff they increased prices in the stores 3-10% across the board. Imagine a self-proclaimed progressive company actually being another scummy corporation.
