Severance agreements question
I just got laid off. I work remote so i should be getting a laptop box and a severance agreement form. Company was actually pretty good, paid well, good managers, etc. It's a small startup and they are starting to run low on cash so it is what it is. No real hard feelings. What can and can't they ask for in an agreement? What can they ask for but is non-enforceable? What can they ask for that would make it unpalatable to sign? What is boilerplate that doesnt matter? Also how large does a company have to be for it to be an official layoff and require X amount of time warning? Edit Also i have an FSA card with like almost 2000$ on it. What should I spend it on and where?
My partner recently quit her job at a really bad employer. She still has 8 days remaining of her notice period (that she wants to be paid for), but the company is trying to bully her to quit early (possibly to sue her for contract breach for quitting early, since that's within their legal right). She recently got invited to a meeting with the CEO tomorrow morning (this is a small, ~25 person company), and she definitely wants to have some kind of proof, in case they do try to sue her (thankfully she's part of a rather strong engineering union, so they'd probably pay for the associated costs). Are there any good and reliable recording apps for android? Note: we live in a country where it's legal to record a conversation secretly, as long as you're part of it and as long as the recording isn't spread.
Who knows about Akkodis?
I’ve been offered a contract position through Akkodis. Anyone here worked through them before?
One observation about working from home
I currently work remotely and while I do enjoy the perks that come with it I have noticed one potential annoyance. Tech support is not always reliable. My previous position I was able to get issues resolved through tech support no real problems. My current job? They're a joke. I had to talk to like two different agents to get a couple program fixed so I can get access. Today my computer booted up a blue screen and trying to get agents to help fix it is a nightmare
