As mentioned in the title, I’m planning on quitting my job in one month. I’ve been working at a god awful job that has completely destroyed my mental and even physical health. This is my first job out of school and I have tried really hard to make the best out of a bad situation but I recently reached my absolute limit. Ive been working here for 7 months and have already been burnt out twice. Last week was my last straw and I made a resolution that I would quit in a month. I even have my resignation letter written up and ready to go. Ironically, the next month seems almost unbearable to get through and I don’t know how to push myself to last the month. Any advice on how to get through this month?

Working anywhere you’ll find out they have these mandatory “anonymous” employee surveys. They try to get your opinion about things. I feel like they’re a waste of time completely. At some places of work I felt like I couldn’t answer honestly for fear of being sat down with hr about it. But what happens is somewhat worse, we are ignored. At one place I worked apparently one year communication was a major vague point that was brought up for improvement. The hr woman quite literally said to us when going over it, something along the lines of “communication would be nice to improve on but that’s not a measurable goal.” And that’s all that was said about it. No follow up questions in the team meaning defining what some people meant, nothing. Do your companies change things that are brought up or are you feeling you’re forced to check 5…
I'm currently working as a network engineer in an SI company. I was tasked with creating a yearly network report for a bank and worked pretty much like 14-15 hours without getting paid extra, because I was also eager to draw network diagrams. The diagrams in the past given to the bank were inaccurate and written in another language so the IT Manager here also personally told me that he could not understand the previous diagrams. But then, when I've done my mappings (Like IP, Ports, etc) and made some good-looking diagrams, the director of my company was like “The diagrams look awesome, please work harder like this in the future”. And later that week, I prepared a unfinished document file for him because he said he was visiting the bank and he needed to show what's been done and stuffs like that. He and the MD are the only…
Hi everyone. I am planning to do a career switch and will be going back to school in roughly 1.5 months. Tomorrow, I will be having my monthly one-on-one with my boss. He has been persistent in asking me about my career aspirations in my role. To be honest, I have not had any interest in my current role for a very long time. Unfortunately, I don't trust my boss very much so I can't mention the truth yet (going back to school in 1.5 months) until I plan to hand in my notice. I strongly sense that he won't take my plans to go back to school well and may even fire me out of anger. I don't want to risk being unemployed 1.5 months earlier than planned. I still need to pay the bills for the next month. What makes tomorrow particularly difficult is that I'm very close…

Giving it to the boss *did not quit*
Today my boss held a meeting to complete paperwork. Her and another superior were present. They claimed I never completed paperwork that was needed. They then went on to complete the supposed paperwork that I “didn't do” but needed me there to help. When I showed them the completed paperwork in their emails, they discarded it saying it did not meet state regulations. At the end of the meeting they then wanted me to work on new paperwork. I told them I do not know what these new state regulations are and that I will not complete the paperwork since they will just discard it anyways. That they will just have to do it. They have yet to say anything back to me.
Let’s be happy!…again.
Today my Very Cheerful supervisor asks if I would like to submit any happy songs to the newest team playlist. (It's something we do. It's fun.) I paused for a moment to look at the computer screen in a way that I could never have done in real life because it involves serious side-eye and an “Are you fucking kidding me?” expression. Instead, I simply type “How many people have submitted Pharrell Williams' “Happy”?” The answer is “Just you.” I send him a Super Happy Emoji face. *cackles in gothic entertaining compliance
Vacation Entitlement – Canada
in the province of BC specifically So here’s the situation… I’ve started working in November of 2021 for a company in BC under a temporary contract which was supposed to be until May of 2022 but lasted until August of 2022. During this time I got zero vacation days but received the 4% vacation payout on my paycheck. After my contract ended, I moved into another department in which I was awarded full-time status. They told me that vacation was “earned” in this department (I.e. I would have zero vacation for the rest of 2022 but since I started in august I would be allotted 50 hours for all of 2023). Also no longer would be receiving 4% payout even with zero vacation for the remainder of 2022. But since I had been working for that company since Nov 2021 I technically earned my 120 hours for 2023. Fast forward…
