Look, we all agree that tip-based employment sucks, right? It's uncertain and it's exploitative and it's also a lot of people's best option. Are the workers being exploited by the restaurants, bars, etc? Yes, absolutely. People are realizing that, and that's part of why there's a shortage of service industry workers right now- because the work, conditions, and pay suck. Having said all that.. If you don't want to tip, don't go out. Don't go to a restaurant, don't go to the bar, buy booze at the liquor store and cook your own food. Complaining about the cost of things, when you're actively in control of someone else's ability to pay rent and eat, is classist down-punching. If you're not planning on tipping 20% anyway, you're complicit in the exploitation of your fellow workers. Should the establishments just pay a living wage and charge more? Yes. Do they? No. Are…
Workplace didn’t file taxes
Not sure if this is the right place to post but just filed my taxes with my girlfriend and found out that her workplace never filed state taxes for her and now we owe money. Is there anything we can do about this or am I just stuck paying it?
Nephews moral quandary

In terms of financial advice for the transition and inheritance he knows what to do and his dad is still alive it’s part of the ongoing estate planning. His issue is the morality of extracting wealth from people and providing little value. His career is in education.
France did it why can’t we do it too?
My girlfriend's boss is short staffed, will not hire anyone new to save money and will not give her time off even though she works her ass off everyday for almost a year now. She is asking for time off for a trip that is 7 months away. We want to travel to another country and she is requesting this far in advance to help boss prepare. She asked for 2 weeks off and got denied. No reasoning either other than “we don't have enough people”. It hurts me because I see her working overtime what seems like all the time and she hussles everyday. I think she should find another job because it's not like this job is paying her anything significant anyways. Here's what I am thinking: -> She quits her job at 1 year mark -> She will continue working there until she finds a new job…
