When Elon musk fired all the people at Twitter, it became better known that Europeans have laws in place where if they’re laid off or fired, they get mandatory severance pay. Because Europeans get it. Employers in the United States demand a two week to 30 day notice when you’re quitting, but yet feel that they can fire you on a whim, and that’s it. If the United States followed, Europe’s lead, and made the businesses pay for the same two week notice it would be fair. Too bad our politicians a purchased by those companies and don’t have to do shit.

Ways to cope when you hate your job
What ways do you handle coping with a jib you hate? Now is not a good time to look for a job. Plus I have been there 15 years. Just trying to finds ways to cope. I also have really bad anxiety so things feel more extreme for me then they may be. But I am at the post where I dread logging into every day.
I’m leaving my current job (Best Buy) to work inside of a hospital, I found out I’m in a union. I’ve had past bosses say that unions are bad because you have to pay dues (which isn’t a big deal) and that hours aren’t promised, I’m new to the union world and want to ask if there are any genuine downsides to being in a union? Or were my past bosses just union busting?
Bonus Question
No details here, but what would you consider a “good” bonus? Percentage of salary.
Working in sales, companies give you a low wage usually intentionally, and you end up having to make the other half of your pay through commission. However, with my job they have screwed with our commission structure so much that I am barely meeting their requirements in ONE area to earn commission pay, which barely gives me enough money to live on. The management team saw sales slow down so they looked at competitors and all decided unanimously to change the dress code. For us workers though, the problem was we did not receive prior notification, no e-mail, no message when we login to the system, none of the middle-management telling us about it at our morning group meetings, absolutely fucking nothing. We just ended up randomly in the middle of the work day receiving a notice in our Groupme app group (it's a tool for workers to communicate with…
Grifting the Gap in Your Resume
I'm in a good job and not looking, but I keep my resume active on Indeed, and get emails regularly asking me to apply for positions. If the pay isn't listed, I decline and comment that I would've considered it if they listed the salary in the ad. I also make a point of mocking them when the posted salary is well below what should be offered. It's not much, but it makes me feel good.
this very nice and cooperative fella!
Nurses can’t get no respect
(not pro- or anti-mask) ““In no uncertain terms, this is a failure of public health leadership,” said Bonnie Castillo, RN and executive director of California Nurses Association. “Abandoning these standards is a counterproductive and unscientific approach to curbing the spread and evolution of Covid-19. This decision endangers the health and safety of nurses and other health care workers, hurts their ability to access personal protective equipment from employers, and ultimately exacerbates the health care staffing crisis that political leaders have vowed to tackle.” Just aggravated for the nurses who have been treated like crap during this time.
