professional ways to say no?

I handed my work laptop in before vacation because it was due for an upgrade. Someone somewhere forgot something so now I won't have access to anything until next week. What's a professional way to say, your lack of planning is not my problem, no I'm not using my personal devices for work, no I won't be taking unpaid time off because I can't work without the laptop you were supposed to fix, and no I won't be reading “offline documents” on a (my) cellphone for 6 days.

Don’t expand your horizons

Story time. I had an interview scheduled (last week) for next Monday in Los Angeles. I live in Northern California so I booked a flight. I got a call today from the organization (UC Irvine Public Health) telling me that they need to re-schedule the interview for a later date. I told them that I already booked my flight ( of which I cannot change), so they cancelled the interview. Foolish of me to think that an organization could keep their word. PS. when I got the first call for the interview, I asked for a Zoom interview- they insisted on the interview being in-person. Learn from my mistakes folks.

Applying to Internships is exhausting

I'm currently in university and looking for internships and I find this whole process very exhausting. You're put under pressure from the beginning and people will tell you you will struggle to get a well paid job after graduation. I really can't stand it. In the past you could get jobs straight out of university without all this crap of needing “experience” for entry level jobs. At least the internships in my field tend to be paid but they're super competitive. It just makes me want to escape to a world where we don't have to struggle. The way it is is dystopian to say the least.

The Great Dilemma: Anti-Work, Need Money to Survive

Not sure if this post is allowed since it's mostly anti-work but promotes the idea of having income for things like food and rent. I am struggling to hold a job long term because I become so bitter over the fact that it feels like I exist only to work and go home. I get bored and restless along with angry that I basically have to earn the right to shelter and food. 40 hours isn't enough, but when I tried working 60 hours, I lost my mind. I feel so overwhelmed and don't understand how to accept that this is my life for another 40 or more years. What am I supposed to do? Are there jobs for the people who don't have a dream job?

Not allowed to ask for time off.

Hey all. Feeling stuck and annoyed at my current job. I went to school to be an aesthetician. Pay sucks, hours are horrible and now my boss does not want me asking for time off. I make minimum wage and tips. But the laws have changed where I live, so now my tips are taxed. She has not given me a raise since I started working there years ago. I feel I deserve more than minimum wage at this point. Today, she told me she no longer wants me requesting time off. The same thing happened a couple months ago. I asked to be leave a few hours early on a Saturday shift to make it to my boyfriends birthday bash. She was very annoyed with me and told me she does not want me asking for time off Thursdays through Saturdays. When I asked about taking a Saturday off…
