Companies, stop whining!
To all greedy and lying companies: You don’t even reply to applicants who meet your criteria for the job description. You are arrogant. There are tons of people applying for your jobs when the pay is not shit. You want to pay shit though, to have your company cake and eat it too. Yet you have the goddamn nerve to complain everywhere about not finding talent or similar bs. Stop whining. There are no shortage of workers, hundreds and thousands of applications flooding for entry level jobs. Stop lying about staff shortage.
She was good people… We were all ready with a 'more or less' secret retirement party… Champagne, cake… the works… Not because it was something mandated, just because she was loved and we wanted to do something nice for her… Not even a bad organisation to work for, she loved it, we love it… good place to work for… but still.. She spent 30+ years working for this place, and even while she was appreciated, was payed well, had a good gig… and all that.. and yet… Two days before she could enjoy the fruits of all she had done… just gone… She was a colleague, a friend even… she even loved her job and even within a great team… In the end, it didn't amount to anything other than a payout to the people she left behind…
Surplus Labor Then and Now
So, I saw a headline a few days ago somewhere comparing the amount of *effective* time off a serf received in 18th feudal England vs. modern day capitalist 'Merica. The comparison was not favorable to say the least, agrarian economy etc. At that time in England the traditional agreement with the land lord was you would get a parcel of land to farm for yourself, which you would work 3 days a week and then you would work 3 days on the lords land. I'm curious to know in modern day 'Merica what portion of a productive laborers labor, in the form of wages, do they bring home and what portion is kept by the capitalist? Anyone know?
I have to commute to work in the dark, and I have to leave work when it's dark. I rarely see daylight during weekdays. I have to run errands when it's dark as well. I live above the 45th parallel so Winters are very dark here. The summers make up for it though. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about winter are people who say those pointless “I hate Winter motherf**ers on the most beautiful evening on their lives*” memes. Like seriously, it's overcast as hell where I live. If you live in a cold climate, you have to prepare everything in advance as the roads will be icy. Thus making driving dangerous. If you have to drive, you have to de-ice your car every time.
Then, they almost didn't hire me bc there were 3 pages of jobs (3 on each page). 10 years ago, I was in high school and up to 6 years ago, college LaughingOutLoud I just thought it was hilarious unfortunately, I need a job 3 weeks ago, and this place has pretty good benefits, and I've heard great things about the company itself. Plus, I need at least 69k/yr to survive rn bc I'm dumb with credit so, this job it is. Hopefully, the hiring process has been a hoax for how the company itself will be because I've only ever heard people praise it.
