Wow, the fact you are young and not tall gets you disrespected even at a YMCA. Making me really leave subcontractor, leave YMCA and go die after having no money when it runs out. Unbelievable.

Tl;dr if a company doesn’t accept applications through job sites, save your breath bc every single one of those jobs are hell. Some background: I (26m) have worked retail jobs since fresh out of high school. I’ve done almost all types you can think of from bagger to cashier to my current job which is sales (IE selling furniture, cars, etc. that type of work). Out of all those types of jobs, the ones that are more stressful and anxiety inducing are the ones that outright to refuse any application that isn’t directly from their own career site. If a job doesn’t accept your resume and application through third party such as indeed.com, DO NOT APPLY. Those types of companies want you to jump through their hoops to get someone that will do whatever they can to please their superiors. It’s a disgusting tactic that a lot of AAA companies…
I work at a startup since June 2022 got laid off suddenly. I am an international student on OPT visa and this means I only have 40 days of unemployment remaining till I have to leave the US The call I was fired on (very unprofessionally) was meant to be a coffee catch up so I was very blindsided to think clearly They stated in my signed contract that they would give me a raise within 3 months of my employment. I didn’t get that and was told I would get it in January. Didn’t get that either so essentially they went against a legally binding contract When I was hired, I was told by the CEO (without me asking) that they would help me apply for my H1B visa. Now is the moment to apply for the lotter, they really timed this. The founders themselves are international & they…
For reference this is an abusive mom n’ pop shop that I’ve worked for for 3.5 years, and the manager has only worked there 2 years. She was hired after me and promoted to manager without it being offered to me because, and I’m quoting my boss: “I thought you didn’t want it.” So I’ve got this great opportunity at a fine dining establishment, but it’s not 100% yet. Once it IS 100% I intend on either quitting without notice or giving them one week. If I get this job I wanna have some time between then and starting so I have more time to research the menu and practice plates and stuff, but I want to give myself a week to just. Exist. I haven’t had more than 5 days off in 10 years, and a whole week would mean the world to me. So how would you go…
Work Nepotism
It's sometimes difficult to discuss issues of one co-worker to higher up because they're close relatives. Other co-worker is their close friend too. I have this co-worker that instead of telling her issues with me, she goes straight up to manager. I felt uncomfortable that instead of being told I should do this, and how to be better I was always called off. How am I suppose to know if I'm doing it wrong? I literally just do my job. Yes I'm learning and follows and tries to be better. But it's not fair, I'm always the center of topic behind my back. I tried to ignore it but it's becoming inconsisted to the point I felt excluded. It's hard to confront one because since they're all relatives they defend each other.
Shower-thought indeed
Have you seen the vid of the Romanian Politician Accidentally Zooming Into Meeting naked from the shower? Hussle culture and crunch time on display! Can a man have a god damn shower or will there be fatalities if the meeting is delayed 10 Minutes?
I got fired and I feel hopeless
I enjoyed my work as a pet care specialist and I feel so lost now. I am admittedly a veteran with some serious pain in my heart and low self-esteem after my mental and physical injuries. I was so happy. I went to a client's house, the same way I had for 4 months, and the husband that I don’t know very was waiting for me naked and was being gross. I ran out. I felt violated. I asked my boss if I could take the week off from that one client until I could figure this out. He was older and maybe he was off his meds. I felt very upset and at the time I thought my boss supported me. I covered her while she was sick that week and I completed all of my clients and hers. I was hoping she would talk to the client to…
In the past few months my eyes have been opened to the capitalistic hellscape we find ourselves in, so I’m still new to all of this. I work as a nursing assistant in a US hospital. I love medicine but despise the american healthcare system, and I do what I can to help people out within the confines of it. This is getting increasingly more difficult as the staffing and safety situation gets worse and worse due to management cutting back more and more. Once or twice a year, the CEO comes around with a cart full of snacks that he hands out while thanking us for the work we do. He’s demonstrated a complete disregard for our physical and mental well-being, and instead of giving us the help we desperately need, he tries to placate us with candy like we’re fucking toddlers. I’m trying to figure out how to…
