My place of employment treats me like shit. I told them over a month ago that I needed to move and to replace me as soon as possible and get me off the schedule which they still have not done. I told them my absolute last day would be March 1st. Things are getting worse and worse. How hard would it be to find another job if I tell them I’m done now reference wise? I feel like anyone reasonable would be like “ok you gave them 4 weeks that’s good enough” but I’m worried that I’ll count against me because I didn’t stay until I said I would. Is it technically short notice if they’ve known for a month? My mental health is really suffering. Sorry if this isn’t allowed I didn’t know where else to ask this, just looking for some advice. What people need to understand
Most companies do everything the law allows them to do. If tomorrow the law allowed them to hire 9 year olds full time and chain them to desk, they would. If tomorrow the law allowed them to enslave people, they would. If tomorrow the law allowed them to pimp out their employees, they would. The root of this problem is that public companies would be REQUIRED to do these things as a fiduciary duty to shareholders and private companies probably just would for their own greed. We are literally (in the classical sense) just inputs to the process, thats all.
