Decided to forgo putting in a two weeks notice at my current job. Bad idea?

I've been working this position just over two months. It's a sales job, something I've never done before, and it's been a nightmare. The manager is very wheedling and encourages us to be overly manipulative and even untruthful to sell expensive furniture to people. The business is very conservative in many ways and bottom line, I hate it. The entire enterprise is also essentially predicated on exploiting poor people with rapacious finance programs. Anyways, like I said, I've been here a few months and I really haven't got the hang of it, and the managers have made it clear they've noticed. I know that I'm not valued at this company, as I've don't little to show the kind of dedication they expect. So I have a new job I start on Tuesday that hopefully I will be a better fit for. Salary exempt concerns

I have a question regarding Exempt Salary: The company is wanting me to work 55+ hours to have overtime approved for other team members. I am exempt salary meaning no overtime is paid to me regardless of what I work after 40 hours. I am curious to see if this has any legal recourse. I see it as them utilizing and abusing the purpose of salary exempt by not wanting to pay out overtime to other team members in the store and cashing out on free labor from a salary exempt employee. Some background: Title is Store Manager Manages less than 10 people but is the highest ranking person in the establishment Manager is by themselves most of the day doing menial cashier work if short staffed and not managing other employees. Ghosted by Job interviewers???

Ok guys help me out. I've been looking for a new job because my current gig (Ubereats/Grubhub) have cut how much we've been paid. I was full time in this since 2019 and I used to make good money but now I can no longer pay my bills. So I've applied to multiple jobs and I've had 2 jobs this week set up interviews with me and then go ghost! Both were phone interviews, I set up days and times and I never got a call. I double checked to make sure I had the right days/times and had sent the right phone number and everything was correct. I sent follow up emails to the people who set up the interview….nothing. Anyone else experiencing this?

Company said they were ‘ending our relationship’

So I got fired yesterday, I work in the service industry in CA so at will employment is in the contract that I signed when I was hired. They stuck to a script and said “we are choosing to end our relationship at this point.” I kept asking what was the reason and why, if I did anything wrong, or if I was just a seasonal employee.. they stuck to the choosing to ‘end the relationship’ script. Called HR today for a little bit of closure, but yet again, stuck to the script. My question is; what should I put on the applications as to why I left the position?

Is it ok to handle hot food without tongs?

I started a job at McDonald's today and worked in the kitchen. I was surprised to find that the food is not handled with tongs. I was required to grab greasy hot burgers and chicken with my hands all day. We did wear gloves but they were cheap disposable gloves that didn't stop my fingers from getting burned. I worked at burger King quite a few years ago and we were absolutely required to handle all hot foods with tongs and not our hands. This seems like a really odd practice to me and I would like some more insight about whether or not this is common practice for McDonald's or if it's just this particular store, or if this is even legal.
