resume help needed

Just as the title says. I have gaps in work history and am trying to look like a good candidate to employers. But low self esteem and lack of experience feels like a brick wall. Can anyone help me out?

Just filed a pay equity complaint against my former employer

My male colleague with the same job title was paid $1.25 more per hour, despite me having 10 more years of experience and a university degree, which he does not have. My boss should have done the equity work when negotiating my colleague’s salary, but did not. I just wish I could see his face when he gets that call…

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you don’t have to give references if you don’t like them

I have been looking for work for a while now and my job references are getting old and honestly I never trusted them. I got the whole concept wrong and just said yes when recruiters asked if they could call someone on my resume. Extremely dumb, as having an ex employer cold called probably had them in a bad mood. But I was too anxious to contact them to ask if they wanted to be a reference. I never really asked anyone cause my jobs were mostly toxic to me and I wanted out. So I basically now just do not give permission to contact anyone. I am honest and tell them I think my references are too old and can't be a good reference to me. But deep down I don't trust anyone. I think I often got ghosted by recruiters because they called a previous employers. I am…

Milking a situation?

A coworker recently made very sexual/derogatory comments to me and I told management (verbally) but nothing was ever done. HR was not involved at all. I work for a very large & well known healthcare corp. I hate this company and feel like my situation was pushed under the rug. How can I milk the most out of this situation? Lawsuit worthy?

Just watched Office Space last night…

It's been a long time since I've seen it. It popped up for free on my youtube so I popped it on. Holy smokes. It gave me extreme anxiety. It's crazy how just a few meme-able moments in a pretty short movie sum up the entire beaurocratic corporate structure in America even today. Peter's whole arc is so satisfying in a way that most of us will never get to experience. I don't understand how this movie hasn't ignited the burning flame of antiwork in a larger part of the country.

Work taking out insurance that was never working

Hi all, I just called to confirm my insurance status with the company and I found out that my companies insurance policy was never effected. They’re still charging me basically half my paycheck every week. I’m in NYC, what do I do?

“Thanks for your hard work! Be happy you weren’t fired!”

I got my annual raise today. It doesn’t even begin to cover the inflationary pressures I’m feeling with the cost of food, college, or auto repair. I’m the best employee on my team and my company thinks this is just enough to get me not to quit. There are three ratings: Outstanding, Effective, or Off Track. I’ve been Outstanding since starting this job- in fact, I got a shoutout from an executive saying I was the best of the best in 2020. This is what they think of me and my hard work: a pay cut, effectively. I’m looking for a new job.

This company wants a forklift operator with six years of experience, minimum! Pay is $19.50 an hour (no mention of benefits) in an extremely high cost of living city (Seattle). Meanwhile, Dunn Lumber starts out at $22 an hour, no experience required as they’re willing to train.
