even jobs that have paid sick leave act like you’re only allowed to get sick for the amount of sick days you have, as if you control it like when you take a vacation. few things disgust me more than seeing bosses / managers guilt and threaten people into coming into work while sick. maybe the health department needs to start cracking down on it more, and not just in food service either. it seems like enforced legislation is the only way to get employers to treat people like human beings

Today I start my second job
I'm almost 40 years old (turned 39 last month). I've managed to keep myself to one job while everyone around me was working 2+. I owe a friend of mine an undetermined amount of money. I like having time to myself but don't mind giving some to other people but I'm feeling pretty trapped. A bit of backstory. A few years ago I was working for a guy doing some under the table work. The work was mostly handyman stuff (which I'm good at). He provided the jobs and I went and bid on them and did the work. I learned a lot about people and met some great and some horrible people but I didn't like the guy I was working for, it was very obvious that he was really just out for a buck. Did that for about 6-8months and was making decent enough money but constantly stressed…
nothing to see here folks
I know for sure I am IT. We have two c-suite employees that I haven't seen since the beginning of the pandemic they are wfh. I know that regular employees have been forced back into the office full time. Have even had one person leave or dismissed over this.
TELUS – Wages – Pending Strike
I'm apparently “Salary” when working 40 or more hours. Anything below that I'm considered hourly. There was one day last week I worked 4 hours instead of 8, so I lost 4 hours of pay on my check despite being “Salary”. A few weeks ago I worked an extra 4 hours and was never paid for it. Is there information somewhere that specifies my rights on this issue?
