Really tempted to ask for a demotion
I’ve posted on here before about the (unasked for) promotion I received last year. The promotion involved becoming a line manager to 3 individuals and being responsible for the success of 2 products. I was offered a 4% raise (now received a further 5%). I’ve been in my new role for 3 months and weirdly enough I really enjoy being a people manager. I always thought I’d hate it but I really like helping others and it helps that all 3 of my reports are friendly and easy to get along with. It’s great to see them grow in confidence and to support them with their goals. What I’m struggling with is that I HATE how ‘senior’ I am now. I’m expected to schmooze to senior execs, be in strategy calls all day and I have to make really serious decisions on my own. I really don’t feel qualified for…
No bathroom
lil rant. Our bathroom has been out of order for almost Saturday, and after being lied to on Monday that we’d have someone here that day, I’m about to call the most expensive repair in town and forward the bill.
What's your experience with discussing wage with your coworkers at the job site? I'm very open about my salary, but my colleagues seem very uptight about saying their magic number, even though they complain about it often (hush hush of course, no one speaks up to management). The company claims he committed a felony/somehow forged his bosses signature, yet aren’t pursuing legal action AND the ceo of company told him he’d give him a personal recommendation to any place he applies to. What just happened? It’s an at-will state so it was effective immediately. He had been pursuing a raise at the company and just a week prior to this action, he spoke directly with the ceo who said he was farming him for a CIO position. His direct report didn’t really know what he did at the company and actively ran around making him do extra work and ask for a good word from every person he’s ever worked with in order to consider his raise. He shut the door the…
As the title states. The company I work for, a multitrillion dollar international bank, is in the middle of laying off thousands as we speak. Mass layoffs have been happening since early-mid January. Coworkers and friends had been let go, and those who are left are worried for their job security. But the CEO was able to increase her salary by a couple million. I am scared and I am unsure of what to do next.
