Original post detailing my injury and starting of the company https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/1069hqc/fired_for_getting_a_brain_injury_denied/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Update* It's been a constant battle and I'm still working on trying to get back to normal. Things like shopping, driving, exercising, even conversations become a struggle most days. I've poured every ounce of myself into trying to make this business a success and I will keep doing so until it comes to fruition. In addition to everything we offer on the website we are beginning to launch our own homemade all-natural dog treats! I'm so very excited about this and I've been pushing myself to make batches all day every day. My wife loves that I've been so motivated but as you can probably imagine this hasn't been easy on her, especially financially. The cost of running even an online business adds up quickly and now that we are making all-natural treats the ingredients, packaging, baking materials, medical…
Someone who defended American working laws to me said that countries with better working laws than us have “arguably” better working laws (European countries that offer a months worth of PTO, a years worth of parental leave, etc.) and that those countries have higher poverty rates (my ass, countries with better working laws include: the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc. He had no counter argument to me pointing out countries with working laws that don’t have the poverty rates he said, and when he mentioned countries with working laws worse than us, he mentioned countries that have significantly higher poverty rates than the US. When you’ve fallen in love with the system that exploits you, you just deny being exploited, and do mental gymnastics to do so.
I just moved states and while my job has always sucked (delivery driver) It never sucked this bad! The chain in my area has this rule that all drivers must do dishes for 30 minutes minimum before we are allowed to go home. It does not matter how long you've been there, it does not matter if you get forced to take 4 orders at 7:30pm, get back at 8:10 pm, and your shift ends at 8. The manager will NOT LET ME LEAVE before I do dishes. Now I OPEN so I've already done 10+hrs and now they think I'm gonna stay 30min late every day??? I want to tell the manager to shove it bc I work to live, I don't live to work, but I cannot afford to be fired right now.
Title says it all. Any job ideas?
My father worked himself to death.
My father died last week from unknown causes but likely a heart attack out on his farm. He was young, too young. He was alone in death. For almost 40 years, he was working anywhere from 60-70 hour weeks as a farmer and running machines that make car parts. His company had “mandatory overtime” on Saturdays. He only earned enough to be in a vulnerable position in lower middle class. As a kid, I remember him not being around much and when he was around, he was sleeping or too tired to function or be present. He didn’t have time for his relationships. At the same time, he loved farming and his animals. I found out he had been selling a lot of his animals to downsize and get ready for retirement. Now, he won’t get to retire or rest. Everyone in their grief is praising him for his work…
Here's a question. Would you feel the need to have a “side hustle”, if you were earning enough money from your current work? I understand that there are people who likes to work, and I don't want to judge or to criticize them. However, if we had more than enough money, I don't think there would be too many people who would even choose to work, let alone to have a “side hustle”. “Side hustle” seems to be another way of saying “you're too broke to have a free time.”
