I work for a small non-profit and they’re taking us on a three day retreat. This is a mandatory fun retreat where all staff must attend. Help me out here r/antiwork, what is the most professional way of saying will this be a paid event?

This is my first post here. As I already stated that I am a IO psychology student, I am tired of this field. Learning the most repulsive theories to manage and organise employees so that their ‘overall wellness’ increases. I never wanted to pursue this field, but due to personal reasons, this is where I ended up to leave my toxic home and move to other country. I always wanted to be a philosopher, poet and story writer. Moving on from my crushed dreams, throughout my courseworks, I fought the urge to lash out in the classes. I raised questions in class that dealt with inherent draining nature of work and the superfluous deployment of techniques that are enforced to keep employees working, or help them find a solution for their ‘unhappy’ work life within these exploitative structures. I work in a store and suffer from asthma. i get winded easily and sometimes vomit from over working myself just so i feel like im not slacking. i dont like being seen as dead weight but holy shit do companies not care. i told my manager when i was hired that i get winded easily and it sometimes gets so bad i vomit blood and at first they respected that but now im expected to carry super heavy totes of merchandise and to go back and fourth from the back of the store to the front cuz they dont want us “standing in one place for too long” i have 2 managers, one was a former worker in a store and is the most respectfully and caring to the others while the other is in his 60s and prolly last worked as a shelf stocker before microwaves existed. take…

Life is a joke lol, they tell you to go to school if you want a higher paying job yet school is like 50,000 which is less than I make in a year….I just can't pretend to be happy in a world that sets us up for failure. (This is just a vent)
