Just before the pandemic started, my wife went from being a SAHM to starting down a new career pathway as a dental receptionist. She’s got a few years of experience working for toxic employers but she’s worked hard to get to know people and skill up. End of last year, one of the docs in her social network referred her to a new job and she was hired the next day. This office used a different dental software than her previous jobs, but she was confident she could figure it out. Unfortunately, after only five weeks and with zero warning they fired her and said it was due to “making too many mistakes.” She WAS still asking questions, but she never made a mistake that cost them money or couldn’t be fixed the following day. She also thinks they didn’t like her attitude when the major ice storm came through,…

Not Really The Best Look For A Company.
My new job needs do to employment verification which is really freaking me out because I just got fired from a job. I was injured (literally broke a bone and in a cast) and couldn’t complete work asked of me. I was falling behind and needed support. I sent emails asking for help and got nothing. The following week I was fired. I feel like I was punished for getting hurt in an accident. 🙁 I am in the process of filing for unemployment. Now the new company I am at wants to do an employment verification. I’m really nervous about this because of what happened with my last job. I was hired before getting fired from this job, so the new job doesn’t know I was just fired. What do I do? I don’t want my old company to ruin my opportunity to work.
Is this legal? (I’m in MN)
Tech has enabled people greater freedom and flexibility than ever before. Yet we keep working more and more for less.
If salaries were dictated by the job's usefulness to society and one could become qualified for any position debt free, what would your job be and how much would you make?
Laid off after completing project
Was hired on for this company. One of my first project was to help set up a data analytics pipeline and produce a pack by the click of a button while hosted on the web, by myself. Put on plenty of hours to get it operational and debugger so that it moved to an alpha phase. Now that it is launched and successful, they are outsourcing my job to india and I am out of a job. Shit like this makes me hate companies.
