Screw corporate culture

Been working 6 months now in my current company, and I put in my more hours than I intend to. Technically, there is flexible hours and we can go home early on any other days to balance the number of hours one stayed late in for. Surprise, surprise, it doesn't happen! We work probably 60 hours a week and we don't even get compensated financially for those extra hours! What is worse is that my boss is breathing down my neck for not meeting targets. I work in a semi manual labour intensive job. This specific task requires someone to approve before I can move on. The problem is that everyone is busy with their own work to approve my own and we are understaffed. So, I get delayed, and my boss is not happy of course. She understands that it is the lack of someone to check my work…

Soliciting Advice: How do I let people assume I’m younger than I am in work settings?

Hi, I tried submitting this to ULPT but can't get it past the auto-mod for some reason. I'm 30-years old but because of certain life circumstances, hardships, and blah-blah-blah sob story, I'm just now getting a B.A. One thing working for me is that I look young. People often mistake me for a 20-22 year-old. I live in the U.S. How can I leverage this to my advantage and let people assume I'm nearly a decade younger than I really am? As far as I know, it is illegal to ask someone their age during a job interview, but a common tactic among employers is to infer age based on graduation year, with a bias towards fresh, young grads because they are seen as easier to exploit. Also, keeping up the lie after getting hired seems stressful, but I would like to keep my age unknown for when I…

Anyone have daily experience with a CRM software program?

Had a job interview two days ago and one of the primary features of the job is using a CRM. I've had very very limited experience but don't want to come off as inept. Either way they've given me the opportunity to interview and I'm afraid they might grill me on the usage of this type of software. I just wanted to see if I can pick someones brain about it. I think I did well despite not going into depth about it yet, but I still potentially have another interview where they might ask more. Any help would be great.

Application auto fill app and husband’s work is calling his bluff after he asked for a raise to the average of the salary his position makes in our state

A while ago someone posted on here that an interviewer gave them shit about using an application fill program/app of some kind, and they offered a link to the one they used to people that asked in the comments. Would someone be able to help me find that post or if they know something similar? So the main reasoning for this question is surviving poverty with medical bills, the other being spite. He found out he's been making less than he should for his position and asked for a raise to the average salary for that position in our state (PA). This was in November and they asked for him to wait until March when they do their budget and raises for the year. Which, they cut raises during covid AND still made more than previous years. His direct managed begged him to be patient, even though he's the one…

Asking about personal goals is a way to get an employee to do more work?

How do you guys feel if your manager asked you what are your goals? What do you want to achieve/learn for each quarter? Does this come off as hey we want you to do more work. The problem is I am content with my position. I am an estimator at a company and obviously my quotes are where the company the gets business from if the general contractor agrees on the price.

is this scummy or smart?

This isn't about me, but one of my co workers is 16 and works at the same place I do. She takes in extra shifts and helps open, even though people under 18 can't legally do that. Another thing is she's near the fryer where there's popping oil, she makes food there all the time but again, under 18 means the company could get in trouble if she gets injured. She was talking to me and said once she quits she was gonna sue for child endangerment, or make a complaint about how she's working too much as a minor, even though she asks for all of these hours and cooks in the fryer anyway. So, is she being smart here? If she sues and wins she could get money, however I feel like she's being a dumbass and causing a scene for no reason.
