Quiet Quitting – Just Venting

So here’s some of context surrounding my workplace and their culture. My boss has asked me to ride the back of my motorcycle multiple times and has bought me gifts more than once. As I’ve dealt with men in the past, it’s creepy and uncomfortable. He also likes to trap me in a conversation with him for hours in his office. He gives any excuse to linger around my cubicle, touch me, or talk to me. I told my HR manager, and the HR said she may need to talk to him, so I told her I was unsure about whether I want to talk about everything that was discussed, and so I’ll think about it and file a report on what I would want to bring up (Especially since there’s a power dynamic, he’s the ceo). She tells him anyways without my consent OR documentation of any kind. I…

“Mandatory” unpaid after-hours zoom call – need advice (New York)

Hello all, My wife received an email from her general manager stating the following: “There is an important “ALL” Employee Zoom Call scheduled on Monday, March 6th at 8:30pm to give us all an update. It should be mentioned that everyone is expected to attend Please forward this to all employees in your office ASAP and let me know who, if any cannot attend. Please note, note this is not a paid training or meeting. Let me know if you have any questions.” This is in New York. My wife doesnt have any union protection, but I want to report this to someone. At the very least the GM should be disciplined (I think fired personally). I also see no reason that this can't be an all employee memo if they don't want to pay for their employees time.

The most satisfying moment of my professional career so far

This will require a lot of context to fully explain, but I’ll try to keep it short My last job was my first professional job. I was desperate, a year or so past graduating college, and willing to accept anything that was in my field. I actually enjoyed it for the first few months. I liked my coworkers and my manager was great at his job. The field of work it was in was pretty niche and took a few months to learn. The training was also done 100% on the job, which didn’t help. A few months into my time there, all of my coworkers quit and my manager got promoted. I only had 3 coworkers and it wasn’t a coordinated event. They weren’t too unhappy with their job, they just didn’t want to work in that field forever and all happened to get better job offers around the…

“Thanks”

Can we please stop the necessity of including “thanks” at the end of every work email? I don’t understand why companies feel the need to make their staff communicate this way. It doesn’t even fit the context of being thankful most of the time. I understand being polite and formal is one thing.. but doesn’t it seem abused/unnecessary? Even “regards” or “best” .. These aren’t handwritten thoughtful letters lol they’re sometimes just one-two word, usually passive aggressive anyways… Or am I just being a jerk? Seems fake

Companies find me worthless

Hi everyone, I’ve lurked in this subreddit and this is my first post. I’m 23m and I was a bit of a reckless teenager since 14 years old. I’ve been unable to get a good paying job for as long as I can remember. It’s always the background check (I have one felony) that stops me from getting the job. It feels really bad and I don’t know where else to post and I really just needed somewhere to vent. It sucks feeling like companies are deeming you worthless because of your past and can only get jobs at fast food or pig/chicken plants. I’m not even trying to be extra, Starbucks probably wouldn’t even hire me.

How we feeling this “National Employee Appreciation Day”

Only learned of this earlier today when I received an awfully pathetic email from my boss and then one from corporate later.

We were born into the age of automation.

We were born into the age of automation. We just need the benefits of that automation to apply to all of us instead of only the greedy billionaires at the top.

Completely fucked

I was fired from my job two months ago. I started looking for work a couple months before i got fired. Nothing planned out. I put all my effort into finding another job while managing what bills i had with my last check and my PTO payout. My job hunt has turned up nothing. I've got over 40 pending apps on Indeed, no one has responded with anything but rejection letters. The one interview that i did get that went well is waiting on a background check. That was 3 weeks ago. They're still waiting for my background check as of this week. Temp agencies have turned up nothing for me. The contracts I've been offered are either too far away or they don't want me. I've got a friend who can put me to work but he doesn't have any jobs for at least two more weeks. I filed…
