As the title states I’m in the process of starting a business in the beginning I will not have employees but at some point hopefully I will. I already plan on paying significantly more then most other companies who do the same thing ( commercial cleaning) but I want people to enjoy working for me and have a feeling they would have a stake in the company being successful. I have worked for other company’s and I know what I would want but I’d like to hear some ideas from everyone here. We are obviously not going to be a huge company in the beginning so what could we do even if we can’t afford to do a lot? I’m thinking incentives and pizza parties in the clock so everyone is still getting money while having a nice dinner yearly profit bonuses when feasible. I know this may seem a…

Conversation my wife had.
My wife has a decent job but has recently started exploring other opportunities. I guess while discussing this, her friend who owns a restaurant mentioned that she's always looking for cashiers. Wife: I asked her what the pay was and she $7.25 an hour! Me: Well now you know why she's hiring cashiers. I can't believe any place would offer that kind of pay in 2023
“Employee at will” a poem
I used to work and try real hard, The extra mile the extra yard, Overtime and work through breaks, I gave gave gave, they take take take, Then one day my badge won’t scan, 19 years no other plans , They cut me loose, no severance pay, No explanation, just go away, To this day I don’t know still, HR just says “employee at will”
Personally I do not anymore, especially for younger people. Lots of people who are 60+ stand by them but that was an entirely different economy and society than ours. It really feels like another billionaire's idea that doesn't really work in the long term. Infact, the person who came up with the idea of 401ks later regretted it and stopped putting into a 401k. I think that says a lot. I'm in my 30s, I won't be able to take out a 401k until late 2050s. Who knows what the economy will be like then or if modern society will even be remotely the same as it is today. You're basically throwing money into a huge gamble. A gamble that is not looking good with current conditions. Wouldn't it be FAR better to pay off existing debt and just save more now? The interest and employee matching is nice, which…
