This is mainly for my own curiosity after seeing so many posts listing it as a job perk or sales incentive etc. How often does your company put Pizza Parties on instead of raising wages? (or making improvements etc) How much pizza do they actually bring in per person? Going to run some numbers highlighting the difference between what bosses think staff want vs what staff actually want.
So my roommate works at McDonalds and over the course of a year and a half he was able to earn a promotion to be a pit lead. Two months ago, management moved around some of the equipment. This however left a sort of pallet in the working path of my roommate. My roommate warned management that it posed a serious injury risk to him. They did nothing. He hurt himself in a minor way several times. Management did nothing. Then on 2/18, my roommate hits the pallet and suffers a severe injury to his left knee and is left barely able to stand or care for himself. Several months ago my work got everyone in the office a Patagonia zip sweater or vest with our logo. I assumed it was mine to keep because there was no contracts or any notices that said it must be kept in the office, returned, etc. I gave them a 4 week notice and my last day is tomorrow. I just received a letter from them that if I don’t return the jacket that they will withhold my last paycheck. I thought I was leaving on good terms but this just seems petty. Is it legal?

I just read on here (I think) last night that if you get put on a PIP, run, it’s the last thing before they fire you. In my experience with this company, that has been true. But I don’t want to leave. I have had plenty of bad managers over the years, and I’m still there and they are not. I have worked there for more than 2 decades, which is really good for someone only in their forties I think, and the people there have always been my family. It’s a pretty good company, a household name, and employees are paid decently with good benefits, though not as good as they used to be. The tasks on my PIP are not difficult to achieve, just very time consuming, and 2 of them could be a full time job on their own. My problem with making progress on those is…
My boss used to be cool and tell me I did a good job and I felt motivated. He was open about things then one day I feel like everyones out to get me and he says we'll its just a job. Not to me I have mental issues and responsibilities. I was slacking I'm not gonna lie taking too long of breaks but everyone was trying to screw me over saying things like I stink then suspended me for smoking bathroom and I dont even smoke and said they would take further action but there's no way to prove I didn't do it then said it sensor went off and that thats proof even though I said machines are fallible. Recently, moved back to the States after a period away. The guy at my new company is objectionable to say the least. He has nicknames for most coworkers. The gay guy is referred to as ‘cupcake’, the member of the transgender community is called, ‘trans fat’ and a younger woman is called, ‘the blond piece.’ The other day when someone came in bandaged up he made a ‘joke’ about him entering the ‘Special Olympics’ with a coworker who has physical disabilities. This guy is responsible for writing appraisals for all the people mentioned.
