My previous employer is refusing to send my last check till I bring back their shirts they provided for me. And listen, I totally would- but I was really angry after quitting that job and I threw them out. Lol I never signed any paperwork when being hired other than my W4. I’m getting mixed answers. Some say they simply can’t hold any money I’ve worked for. Others say they can because I technically owe them money. I do not want to claim a single cent when filing my taxes that I didn’t receive payment for. And if this is a justified claim on my end, I’ll call the labor board on them for certain. There are a few other things they could get in trouble with as far as labor as well.

You get what you pay for!
You know, it has really been bothering me lately. I feel like the quality of customer service has gone through the floor. I worked in fast food mainly as management for almost 10 years. The level of people just not caring absolutely astounds me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely do not blame the workers. The saying, ” you get what you pay for” is so true in this case. If employers want to have high levels of customer service and good quality employees — they have to pay for it! Plain and simple, people will not and should not be expected to go above and beyond while being paid the bare minimum. Really when you think about it, the real people who do not care are admins and management, and what they don't care about is their people. It is just sad.
Tries to put in to be off a month ago and told my department manager. The schedule for that week wasn't written until two or three days before so I didn't feel like I had time to remind them to change it. I end up deciding to call in that day and ask payroll to put in some vacation time to make up the hours. The next day when I was trying to do this one of my store managers walks in and tells me that's against policy. The year before that's how I used 9 out of my 12 vacation days making up hours that I missed for whatever reason. This sounds fishy to me, any buddy know if this is against labors laws or anything?
a couple of years ago i worked very briefly at a bacon factory and it. was. terrible. i'd been out of work a long time and just needed something as a stepping stone. back then, it was even minimum wage. it was also a union job but you'd never guess since it was such shitty work. well, i guess that union must have gotten into it because now the job pays $20 to $22 an hour and has benefits that include a company pension. maybe unions actually work? but it's just such. awful. work, i don't know if i could do it again. you're either throwing 40lb slabs of meat into bins for an hour or sorting through bacon that's full of puss from abscesses the poor hog suffered on its body. sometimes shifts are 12 hours. the machinery makes any communication with your coworkers impossible and the pace of…
Who would you pick for a council?
If you were to convene a council or collective, about changing the course of humanity, who should be on it and why?
I've been used to this for a while now, but it seems like a lot of younger people have a problem with this. Although I've accepted this as the norm, I think I might in the process of changing my opinion on this.
