my boss admonished me for trying to help a very pregnant woman down a set of icy stairs.

i work in the freezing midwest. our company is a non profit who transports special needs children to their appointments. whenever we drop off a child to their parent they usually come right to the van to grab their child. on this particularly icy morning, my boss instructed me NOT to help the woman down the stairs for insurance reasons. i get that i suppose. the mother exclaimed she didnt want to go down the stairs to bring her child cuz it was unsafe. my boss(driver) told her he didnt want to go up the stairs, she went back inside and he drove off. i spent the whole night ruminating about the immorality of his actions. the event happened yesterday. i thought things would've blown over but he went out of his way to tell me “i cancelled the clients transportation because of you.” i got into this field to…

So I and a few others on the schedule are being punished for something we weren’t even on site for. Is this wage theft?

Got a job offer and then was ghosted.

In the service industry. Had (what I thought) was a great interview at a very reputable restaurant for a server position. He said he had a couple more candidates to interview, then he’d let me know. I waited a week, and inquired about the position , either way. He offered me a bartending job, which I accepted. Haven’t heard from him since. All but the interview were over email. I’ve emailed him twice, like “hello?”. So frustrating, because I quit sending my resume out; thought I had a job! TLDR: got ghosted after a job offer

Anyone else work ethic majorly decline as the years go on?

So i know what you might be thinking “of course I don’t” “no one likes work” “that’s life” and I understand that. But to elaborate on what I mean is I’m a 26 year old man that through out life had a decent work ethic but I would feel ever since around 2020 my work ethic has dramatically declined with each passing year. I come in late to work, I take longer breaks than I am suppose to, always on my phone, I slack off and over all I just don’t care. You may be thinking I’m lazy (especially if your coming from an older generation that was taught hard work pays off) and yes in a way you’re right. I’m being a horrible employee but it’s just because my eyes have been open to that these jobs don’t care about us. Easily replaceable, ridiculous rules, never paying as much…

Daily wage vs Salary vs Hourly

My wife is considering a new job that is basically her same job now but 2x the pay. One thing that stood out to me was the wage is on a daily rate. Is that considered salary, then? The only benefit I can see for it would be for the employer to exploit her for unpaid overtime. It’s pretty obvious she wouldn’t be able to bounce out a couple hours early if she wanted. I’ve honestly never heard of a daily wage. Are there any benefits to it?
