Companies Not Posting Salary Despite Law

I live in California and there's a new law that went into effect at the beginning of this year requiring companies to disclose salary on job postings. I've noticed two things: 1. Most companies just outright not complying, especially the large corporations. 2. Companies posting ridiculously wide salary ranges like $60,000-$200,000. I have reported some of these companies to the Labor Commissioner's Office, but it seems some companies have realized even with the $100-$10,000 fine, it's still not worth it for them to post salaries especially since it will likely influence salary negotiations for similar positions in different states. What can we do about this?

I’ll give you the job back

You know when you work a shitty job for a while, give your two weeks notice, work the two weeks, and then the boss says “I'll give your job back if you need it”. I think a good comeback would be “yeah, if I ever hit rock bottom and need a place to spend the night and shower until I get a place, I'll comeback then.”

Refusing to pay an intern

Hey, y'all. I've been an intern at a school (Netherlands) since Feb 9th, and I've worked 40-hour work weeks since. In my contract, it states that I'll be paid by the hour (±€2,75 per hour) to a maximum of €180 per month (every 23rd). All fine and stuff, but here comes the part I might need some help with. I haven't had the chance to hand in my hours for the 3 weeks I worked, as the person I needed to hand my hours in was on holiday for 2 weeks, he needs to sign the hours because I could otherwise fraudulently hand in extra hours… makes little sense to me with 40h work weeks and a maximum of €180. They now refuse to pay me, as I didn't hand in my hours on time. The next paycheck is on Mar 23rd. Can I do anything about this? The hour…

What should I do here? Manager issues.

So a few days ago I had an enquiry for my manager regarding parental leave. I sent him an email, well worded and professional. No more than 5 minutes later I receive what can only be described as the opposite. The first line read ‘Dear Dickhead’.. I’ll leave out the personal details, but he goes onto say ‘I’m sitting here in my dressing gown and slippers’ and at the very end ‘P.S. I don’t own a dressing gown, I’ll let your imagination do the rest’. While I understand this could be interpreted as humorous, I did not appreciate it and found it rather creepy to be honest. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened either. Example of another incident. Back when covid hit and the first vaccine was introduced, after he had gotten the jab, he approached me with hands on hips swinging, saying ‘do you want…

I just can’t with this…

So, I’m an operations manager at a small drafting and design firm. For the most part I work with the same four people. Our office is small, and unless a private contractor comes in for the day it’s just us four. But, today we had a somewhat unimportant in-person client meeting to discuss construction plans. It really could have been a short virtual meeting but my boss insisted it be held at the firm. So I made the arrangements last week, and assigned the meeting to Kathy. She did all the prep by the end of Tuesday and loaded it onto the share drive per my request. She is smart, kind, and great at her job. Anyhow, it snowed near my house last night. Not a lot mind you, but a few inches of show with freezing rain to coat the roads can be dangerous. After I got into work…

Should I sue my apartments for intimidation?

I took a job with my apartments last Sept. when I started working, 2 weeks in I was not trained and left in the office for a week alone to perform managerial tasks that I didn’t have clearance for so my boss could go to a company retreat in Den. When she got back she tried to write me up for doing something incorrectly when I wasn’t trained on it. When I brought it to her attention she said she wasn’t mad she just had to go over it with me. During the next few months, I noticed how unprofessional she was. Calling the tenants bitches behind their backs, adding charges to their accounts for stupid stuff. She even entered a young ladies apartment after the young lady relayed to the office that she was going to move bc her bf was stalking her without permission. Her and maint broke…
