I was just informed that we have a mandatory in office day because our coworker is having a baby next month and my boss wants to organize a baby shower. I really love this coworker and shes a good friend in office. The team knows I have fertility issues, and the last baby shower I attended for my friend I had to leave early because I was getting in my head about my emotions. I really hate feeling that way and it makes me feel like a POS. I think it's so unprofessional and the fact that gifts are required is rediculous. I can't afford that on 19 an hour! I don't care how cheap it is, that money could buy a bag of rice or beans to live off of. Most of my coworkers are women who have rich husbands but my partner and I aren't rich. We're struggling…

It's that dreaded time of year. Time for me to submit 5 stupid objectives to my boss. It's all a bunch of bullcrap anyway so hit me with your best (or worst) suggestions for objectives for an engineer. The more buzzwords the better apparently. Yay corporate office life!
Reminds me of my old boss.
I recently had to switch my start time to 9 instead of 8:30 at my job because I can my hours at 35 hours and was working about 37. I also have excruciating back pain and sleep problems, so I thought the 30 minutes might help me out. Well…. i got into an argument with my boss about whether or not I'm needed for an extra 30 minutes, and after explaining to her that I am constantly faced with about 30 minutes of free time a day, explaining my back problems, explaining my belief of not working over 35 hours a week, she sent what's in the title to end the conversation. My response was, “That's nuts but if it makes you happy I'm glad.” I'm sorry but what the fuck is wrong with these people? Do they actually expect every employee to donate their life for a job that…
