My husband is agoraphobiac and if it were up to me I'd never ask him to work another day in his life, but in the world we live in we've learned that this is not a viable life. I see people talking about WFH for awhile now and we've searched for work like that, but most of the postings are scams or require degrees (which he doesn't have) We got him set up with a employment specialist through a local hospital and the call today wasn't super encouraging… she basically said she's at a standstill after putting in a small handful of applications and told him even though he doesn't prefer it he might need to think about what he could do outside the house… The problem is its not preference, we both know that holding an outside job isn't possible, and even WFH is sketchy due to his panic…

The Raise.
So I am recently unemployed and just applied for several positions here that I know I am qualified for today. How long should I give them before moving on or getting in touch with them? Or should I get in touch with them at all after a certain time period has passed? Thanks!!

Hi, I was interviewing with a big 4 company for an internal strategy role as a senior manager. The interview process started in Nov of 2022 and dragged to a final round in January. When they came back with an offer, they downgraded it to a manager position. Then after some back and forth on clarifications and follow ups they landed with “ok we will check internally on the package and provide a verbal offer”. Then they sent an email saying we will not extend and offer. Reasons were they found an internal candidate and I appeared to be dragging my feet. It’s a employers market right now and they are not afraid to leverage to their advantage. Hcol 14 yes experience strategy and operations Meets all jobs requirements Process. Received Offer 40k Under Posted Range
I just received a verbal offer for an aerospace company. I was interviewing for a lead engineer role and the base salary range was posted due to the new pay transparency laws. I just received an email congratulating me and that they would call to discuss the offer when approvals are in. I asked for confirmation on the role since it wasn't listed and the recruiter called to tell me they would like to offer me an entry level position…I have 6 YOE. This is the second time this has happened to me in a few months and I think this is how companies are getting around the new laws. They just change the job position at the offer stage. This needs to be made illegal.
I am a low-level retail manager. I actually enjoyed my job, they taught me a ton of skills to add to my resume, met so many amazing people that brighten my day, we got recognition for our work, and we were encouraged to think for ourselves and be creative instead of being micromanaged to death. I've noticed everything going downhill as the company got more and more penny-pinching over time. They took yearly raises and bonuses away from most associates, prices went up nearly 300%, hiring freezes despite HUGE turnover, cutting jobs, more performance pressure, and more work. The store is basically now like Amazon obsessed with performance culture try to run on the bare minimum. We regularly get assigned insane goals that no human can accomplish, with threats of write-ups, just trying to pressure us to do more on a daily basis, knowing fully it can't be done. We…
I recently took some time off due to mental health issues, which were triggered by both personal life (heartbroken breakup) and toxic work environments (long working hours for months and intolerable office politics). I filed the claim for short-term disability trying to get some compensations. Otherwise, I would lose income when I am on leave.. Also, therapy costs and living expense are extremely expensive in NYC, and I really need the compensations to cover part of them. However, I just got a call from my disability insurance company, and according to them it is very possible that my claim would be denied since in the medical records provided by my therapist, my mental health issues were work-related, so it won't get covered…. So they suggested me to apply for the worker compensations instead. However, based on what I read online, it is almost impossible to get paid through the worker…
Minimum wage shorted on paycheck
Minimum wage in my county is $17.06 an hour starting January 1, 2023. But last pay period it was only $16 an hour on my paystub and my co workers. The business owner was made aware of this and said it was an error but he hasn't corrected it and it has been over a week since we were paid. When should I bring this up again? Should I wait another pay period? Not sure how to address this and get it corrected.
