I work doing hourly labor for events like concerts and sporting events. Sometimes we have to travel between 4 and 16+ hours roundtrip to other cities/states and my employer pays $50 “per diem” for travel but no hourly compensation. Is this legal? Edit: I'm on a W2 and not a contractor
Long story short, fucking hate my job. Shan’t disclose many details, but I work in a retail store that puts too much pressure on too few workers, sanctions employees for medical and family emergencies, selectively treats it’s employees like shit and, most recently, is in the process of cutting the hours of and/or making many employees redundant due to an increase in minimum wage. I’ve just gotten a job offer in a different industry, with much higher pay, better benefits, the full package. I’m fully ready to commit to this role, and I never want to step foot in the building of the previous employer again. The problem lies in the fact that I literally cannot work with these people anymore. One more day is gonna send me over the edge. Is there anything I need from them? Will I get in shit if I never contact them/clock in again?…
If whoever is in charge is trying to make people completely unhappy there doing a great job
I've worked at my current job for 7 months and hated it the first day I started. It wouldn't be so bad but my manager is literally one of the meanest people I've ever encountered in my life. I have zero motivation to spiff up my resume/apply for jobs. I think a big obstacle for me is determining exactly what I want to do next. I also need to learn better ways to apply for jobs. I only ever check craigslist and need to get more used to linkedin, etc. I almost want to see a career coach or something. Someone that can at least give me ideas/show how to find jobs. Anyways. Has anyone been in a similar position and how did you get the motivation to look for something else? Idk what is wrong with me but I literally am incapable of applying for new jobs…. I will…
I was in the hospital for over a week, had surgery, got out, and come to find out my health provider (Sutter Health Sutter Medical Foundation) sent me to collections for a past due bill, they said I wasn't paying fast enough, they claimed a made a monthly payment of $100, $20, $10, etc. But they wanted $480 a month the bill was for $980, Called them up and spoke to rude customer service reps who told me they sent me to collections for Bad debt and to deal with it with the collection agency, They said next time make bigger payments. Isn't America's health care great, I pay $600 a month for healthcare and still can't get a break on coverage? Now I have to deal with the Sharks at Professional Credit Service
The Great Dictator Speech [Charlie Chaplin in The Great Dictator] I’m sorry, but I don't want to be an Emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible: Jew, Gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there’s room for everyone and the good earth is rich, and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our…
