I applied to a software maintenance position in the first week of December last year, had two Zoom interviews that seemed to go very well, and then didn't hear from them over the holidays. I figured, sure, they're in Utah, they probably take Christmas very seriously. But they didn't get back to me in January, either – I thought they'd just hired somebody else and kind of shrugged. January 31, about midnight, I hear back from them, that they've filled the position, thanks for my time. I asked what I could have done differently; I haven't actually looked for work for a very long time and figured I could probably write a resume better, maybe something that sounded like it wasn't written by a Cro-Magnon, you know? Turns out they'd trial-ghosted me. Said they didn't hire me because I hadn't followed up. That I didn't show hustle. My brothers in…

Our team was a support team for all applications being created and bought for the company. We trained, installed, tested, documented, built the sw packages, and other support roles. No one wants to pay for testing, documentation, training, etc and our services were not cheap. When tasks became project based, we kind of lost all of our funding and had a much more limited role in new projects. Upper management looked at our team and cost, and brought in a manager who specialized in breaking up teams. She was a really nice person and really tried to find a way to get rid of our roles, but the bottom line was; support was needed for the applications being rolled out to the plant. Anytime we actually were removed from all aspects of a team, the team realized quickly they had no one who could do what we did and what…
No Lunch Break for WFH
I was told “per {Boss Name} lunch breaks are not to be scheduled during the day. As part of a benefit to working from home we can be flexible when taking a break” Is this legal? I am very happy to work from home but not being able to step away to eat and take a mental breather is crucial.
Yeah that’s the reason
They’re not even hiding anymore.
Rant on Bonus
Tell me how a company that paid $876 million in dividends in 2022 and parent company 10 billion in revenue ….. was not able to pay out a raise. I started working for this company in 2022 (I am mid career so experienced) and this was my 1st review process. I received no raise (and everything I buy is more expensive). My bonus was only funded at 85% not the full 100% (will be taxed to death as well on that). I was advised they were not able to give raises or fund bonus amounts at 100%. I was numb more than mad so not quite sure what that means about how I feel about the evils of corporate America.
