https://www.businessinsider.com/history-4-day-workweek-microsoft-japan-great-depression-2019-11 “Results released yesterday show a recent four-day workweek trial in the UK had 56 of 61 participating companies continuing with the policy. The study, conducted from June to December, included 2,900 employees from a range of industries, with the average workweek around 32 hours and compensation kept the same. The results showed 71% of employees reported less burnout, 39% less stress, and 60% better work-life balance. Fewer workers quit or took sick days compared to the same period in the previous year. Among the 23 companies that shared sales numbers, the average revenue grew 1.4% during the trial. In the US, legislators in Maryland this week proposed a five-year, four-day workweek pilot program in exchange for tax credits for participating businesses. If you come in five fucking minutes before we stop processing paperwork for the night to close, you're an asshole. “Well we want to keep customers happy and in the door! We need to be as kind as possible and give the people what they want within reason” Says my supervisor who let's everything fucking slide. Who does? I don't. At 6:30 WE are done. We start closing paperwork and we're supposed out at 7. Not 7:05. Not 7:30. 7. O clock. I'm to the point i want to start telling people “hey, we're done processing everything for the night. Im not trying to be at work longer than necessary. “Positive expectations” are what we're told…

Corporations are the worst.
It’s not like I didn’t know, but it’s annual review time and I feel some sort of way. CEO sent out an email a few weeks ago gloating about our $6.1 billion in profit in 2022. I just earned a promotion and the highest rating in my department. I kicked ass all year, due in no small part to actually liking what I do, and what’s my thanks? An extra $2140.00 a year, for a paltry $43,700 annually. Comes out to about 80-ish a pay check or so, pre-tax. Apparently I’m supposed to be grateful that I also get a 401k, vacation and holidays, and absence days that I’ll get written up for using all of. Because my “total compensation” is more than just my salary. This is the same company and department that wants me to train the incoming offshore people that are supposed to “supplement” our department, and…
