I’m super curious on how exactly there can be a workless society

The title, basically. I used to love many things. I was happy to paint or play an instrument or sport in my free time. I never had down time between activities. Now I have had a well paying do nothing job for over a year and suddenly my commute was reduced from 2 hrs to 6 minutes round trip. I can develop myself at work. I have a family and toddler but there's time I could spend doing what I love but after 13 years of full time school and full time jobs I have lost passion for the things I used to do. I used to play Rugby, ice hockey, and violin but none of those things fit well into an adult 9-5 schedule. I could go back to school on the clock but anything I want to do pays less than the minimum income my 5 person family…

Congrats Everyone!! We did it
Did my annual evaluation and my boss commended me for setting boundaries at work. She said she could learn from me to stop answering emails late at night or during family time. Maybe leading by example is working? Probably being too optimistic.
JCAHO Hospital accreditation
It kills me that every year when the JCAHO accreditation occurs.hospitals go into overdrive doing a deep clean with with housekeeping prior to a JCAHO inspection scheduled visit. A cheat sheet with questions and appropriate answers are distributed to nurses and staff. If these visits occurred unannounced? JCAHO would find a flthy hospital and some pretty shady practices. JCAHO accreditation is such a scam! They notify hospitals when they will be are arriving months in advance.
To quit or to ask for a promotion?
Hey y’all, long time lurker of this sub, finally having a pretty nice antiwork moment here. So at the moment me (and my boyfriend) work at Pizza Hut. He started about a month after I did (for a referral bonus) and we both currently make around $11 an hour, which as an American we can barely live off of put together. I’ve been here for nearly two months so it may be a bit of a stretch to ask for a shift manager role, but I genuinely think I deserve it. Firstly because my GM said she can see me being a manager not before long. Second I’ve been doing the same duties as a shift manager except for the obvious manager specific duties like counting inventory. I help out our employees in any way, make sure everything is running smoothly, and even answer the phone when I’m not assigned…
Micro-managing Boss
So, I went through some bouts of illness this winter, including Covid recently. My boss has taken personal offense and I'll basically be fired if I call out again within the next few months. The building however has a strict policy of DO NOT ENTER if you don't feel well. Catch 22. Play by the rules, get fired, ignore the rules, get fired. I've been doing my best to kiss ass and get beyond this but every day they have some new inane complaint and they micromanage every aspect of my job now. It's very demeaning. It is a Union job, but they are trying to get around that by documenting inane stupid crap near daily. They clearly intent to fire me but can't yet as Union rep is on vacation. Anyone else been through similar? I plan to start job hunting this weekend, but meantime is it best to…
