Haven’t gotten paid
I’m an independent contractor and I haven’t gotten paid for last week. It only takes a click of a button. Today, they asked to hop on a call for a meeting but I didn’t answer the text message. The meetings are never just 30 mins, it’s always a hour and a half or more. I didn’t feel like doing small talk and I have finally realized I’ve been doing basically free labor for them with the amount they’re paying me. They always dictate when I should talk to them, meetings, to the rate they’re paying me. Should I tell them my availability or send them an email stating that they haven’t paid me?

Hi, so I’ve been looking for jobs for quite a while now and done everything under the sun that’s been suggested to me or otherwise to find one I am disabled and I also pretty much have to work remotely right now It is really important to me to be ethical but I pretty much won’t be able to eat next month if I can’t get something soon, and the food banks near me are super hit or miss I was doing a bit of gig work recently until a bad flare up in my illness hit me I’m thinking of making a fake business w a website, phone number, etc to try to get a job I’m out of ideas rn, I’ve tried basically all the mock interviews, networking, resume critiques and rewrites, warm and cold applying, etc etc
I just quit my job with Walmart call center and want to find something that is enjoyable or at least a decent wage. I worked for CPS for 8 months, and decided that the CJUS world wasn’t for me. My experience is in retail for 7 years, corporate and residential security as a flex officer, and contract work as a case investigator and contact tracer/CSR working remotely. I’m having trouble getting into a new long term field even at entry level, because even entry level jobs expect years of experience in said field
I had a friend/coworker who left her position to persue a job in the financial sector. She had a business degree and was going to go into selling retirement plans. Before she started I warned her about if she was sure it wasnt a scam: that they required her to get lisenced and pass several tests for several months (no pay, out of pocket) to get a job with a tiny base pay but everything made on commissions. But she got her degree in finance and assured me thats just how the industry is. A few months later I check in on here and she is in dire straights. It turned out she was making no money because she was making no commissions. She got a new job at another firm, but the day before her last day they rescinded her offer. Why? She forgot to pay off a small…
So essentially my TL is letting me go today right before I take several days off for PTO. Essentially, I had requested an exception to stay and work at home and while I was waiting, which I gave a couple of weeks to have them give me answer for, they had denied me and I told him today and now he’s pissed since I waited so long to get back to him while I was waiting and told me to be in the office tomorrow. I’m still debating on where to go from here whether I want to take control and just continue to take those days off or resign some day. Thoughts?

Can I add that I was returning to work after a three day weekend?
