Passed up for promotion again
Hey y’all! I’ve been trying for upward movement at my company for years. Denied once again, after finally getting a 2nd interview. I’m in desperate need for some cope, so what are some good reasons you got for me for NOT going into middle management? Thanks in advance for the pick me up!
I got through the first stage of interview with redmedical, they promised me to send a tech challenge that I have strictly 4 hours for, the HR sends me the challenge with a 1 hour delay from the time point that was agreed on. And tells me that I can add 1 hour to the deadline. Now I really don't know how to deal with this situation. Should I agree for another challenge? Or do I call it a day and move on. Can you please tell me your opinion and what you would do in my situation?
Well this was a new one to me at least – IT headhunter calls, feigns interest in my software background a few minutes, then asks the name of my current employer “boss”. I was a little taken off-guard but asked “what do you need that for, a reference already?” Recruiter goes “oh no we do work with your company and maybe your current boss will need our staff to replace you when we put you somewhere else.” I ended the call quick. Does it sound sleazy or am I just paranoid of corporate weasels? Seems like a dirtbag maneuver every which way.

I literally earn 1065 EUR / month net which is quite good in my country (Hungary, a post-USSR poor shithole). I work in IT for a big company that operates worldwide, I work as a sysadmin. I've reached the point in my life where I've been having some major health scares But it's not nearly the cosmetic side of things as much as the functional/health side of things. I got tons of chronic health conditions besides that are genetic. I just got REALLY bad genetic dicerolls. But I'm going off on a tangent now. Basically, the point of all this rant/vent is that YES, money DOES buy happiness. I cannot imagine just…
I worked a 1-9pm shift and was scheduled the next day 6am-12pm. i finished my shift at 9 last night went home, ate a late dinner and went to bed because i had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning. i woke up to my alarm and immediately felt sick, i threw up twice and so i texted my boss telling her i wouldnt be able to make it, i texted her twice and even called once to where i got no response. just now i got a notification from my work app saying i have an “outstanding corrective counseling form” that i needed to reply to. basically it said i was getting written up for not giving a reasonable notice. am i somehow in the wrong? i only had 9 hours to myself which was needed for sleep between my 8 and 6 hr shifts. there was no…
