Technical stoner career path
Was wondering who here with engineering backgrounds found jobs where they could still do technical work but not have to take a piss/hair test? I really hate production, and can’t see myself going back to a traditional role when I complete my PhD (I previously worked in both process and quality). I’m trying to think of a job that I can still partake and not worry about getting randoed. I’m very mechanically inclined, I maintain and rebuild all of my own pumps, furnaces, and experimental setups. Would be fine doing something that didnt require a PhD. Any suggestions. Do legal states have it easier?
Recruitment strategy
Long story short, my job was paying for us to go on a week long retreat out of the country. Due to some mishap with the travel agency/airlines, my booking was incorrectly cancelled and I got stuck in the layover airport. I did my due diligence trying to deal with both the airline and travel agency, asking them if I could get put on another flight (spent hours trying to resolve this, btw). Neither were helpful and the best they could do was tell me they could put me on a flight which would leave another 24 hours later and arrive at the final destination 12 hours after that. After being stuck at the airport for 2 days, I was fed up and decided that I’d just book a flight back home instead. I explained the situation to HR and all they could say was “we’re so sorry, let us…
I currently work from home and have had this job for about eight weeks. I’m a part-time employee but I have health benefits and salary. However, I never received any kind of a package telling me what the company holidays are. MLK day was a day off, but last weekend and this weekend people seem to be working. I feel really stupid asking my manager if I have today off. Is this normal?
I am about to submit a immediate resignation letter to my employer of 10+years. I am leaving because boundaries were crossed and my personal rights weren't respected by my supervisor. I am tempted to list the reasons why but have read online on different sites that it would reflect poorly on me. Ultimately I feel like I need to list the reasons why but keep it brief and indirect.
