Coming up on a year at this company and my coworker was telling me about how his friend (who started around the same time as I) was getting a $500 bonus every 3 months. He was only there for 9 months… and they ended up firing him for too many unexcused absences. I started before him as a temp for 2 months (earning less and no benefits/time off accrued) and was offered a position before my contract expired. They either forgot to mention or purposely never said anything about this “new hire incentive.” I’m planning on talking to my manager and HR about it. Any insight or advice would be appreciated.
How to politely quit verbally?
I am probably overthinking this per usual but I want to make sure I go about this the best way. I am putting in my 2 weeks today for a wfh job that I have been wanting for months ! How can I verbally express to my manager and staff that I am leaving? What wording would you use? I don’t want to burn bridges because you never know where life will take you.
Can anyone give me advice?
Hello, I work a part time job for minimum wage but I desperately want to leave it as I'm very unhappy. I was looking at the gov UK website to find out what benefits I might be entitled to, however I have ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and found it a little confusing and difficult to understand, as I live with my disabled mother and I'm not sure whether her benefits will be affected. Is there any chance someone could guide me through it? I'd really appreciate it.
My Desk Was Moved at Work
So i work for the corporate office for a company. i also say corporate loosely cause it definitely isn’t a professional workplace at all. Anyway, the owner of the business has been harassing me for weeks about moving my desk without giving me any reason why. Basically, when i was hired, my desk was at a raised standing desk height, and the chair i was given was a thrifted $10 bar stool with no backrest or seat cushion. I endured this for maybe 2-3 weeks and then found there was a way to lower my desk. I proceeded to lower it and grabbed an actual office chair from a private office that no one is using and has multiple chairs in there. Since then, he has expressed the fact that he wants me to raise it back up for weeks and has been constantly harassing me about it and trying…
I am 19 y/o and work for NS. I will make about 52k a year, but after taxes, tier 1/2 retirement, union dues and job security, it’s not that much for being on call 24/7 and working 16 hours on my birthday. So my thought is to move 200 miles away from my home town to work everyday on a money pool. Or quit the railroad completely and find some other good paying job
Working Ourselves to Death
Yesterday, a co-worker had to be rushed to the emergency room after collapsing on the job. He's 61. Another co-worker in his late 40s had to be taken to the hospital after collapsing at his other full-time job. Meanwhile, asshats in the media and government tell us we're not working hard enough.
