Employer expecting me to cover graveyard shift after mine

To preface this I'm in Australia and work at a 24hr petrol (gas) station. I regularly work an evening shift a couple of times a week, which generally spans from 3-4pm until midnight. My issue is that the worker who is supposed to be on the shift after me is incredibly unreliable, they don't show up until 3am some nights or doesn't show up at all. My manager keeps his phone off at night even those his contract states that he has to fill in for no-show shift workers. The area support manager refuses to call other workers to fill in and expects me to do it (absolutely NOT my responsibility, nor do I have access to any workers phone numbers outside of those who work at my store). I work at another job during the day, the sleep deprivation is killing me. I have regularly rostered hours. Spoken to…

Struggling to understand the point of three interviews

I have recently given three interviews for 2 of so-called big companies. There is a pattern. I am a copywriter, and the first two interviews were always very good. I first talked with HR, then I talked with the head of marketing who would be overseeing my work. My experience took a drastic 180-degree turn when I talked with the CEOs. To be fair, I have felt humiliated by their questions. And now that I think about it, it feels like either they weren’t interested, or they weren’t really into the interview process and joined it at the last minute. During the 3rd interview both times, I was asked to give my background information of who I am and what I do. Then, in one instance, the CEO asked me to give up everything for the company and I was a bit startled. He then proceeded to ask what AI…

Can’t help but to feel something like this would happen in certain jobs one day

Lol, this is Australian workplace culture. Not much employers can do (we are quite well protected down under)

Do you feel like there’s no job you could do?

I've tried so many jobs in the last 10 years and none of them were suitable for me. If job was good new problem came up with some stupid coworkers. If coworkers were good people the job on the other side was meaningless. After those years I don't know what to do with my life and I don't know what kind of job I would like to find. I am tired of this job searching bull**it and I feel like that I don't know what to do with my life anymore. So frustrating. Hate this productive slavery society.

I know this probably isn’t the place but all the job help reddits I can find are dead.

Ok, so I need assistance. I'm not sure if this is the place to go for this (I'm fairly certain it isn't the place and that this may be removed but it's worth a shot) but I need help trying to find a job. Now I know that may sound odd, maybe not, but for context I live out in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania and I don't own a car. I currently work at McDonald's but since they have decided to only schedule me 4-5 hours a day and 2-3 days a week I'm making nothing. I'm making $10.50 an hour. My rent is lower than 99% of the population of America because I'm living with family (which is how I get to work at the moment) but I have to pay for gas (understandable) but at $10.50 an hour, plus taxes and McDonald's pays every 2 weeks I…

Should I bring this up with FairWork or upper management?

Hi y’all. I (21f) currently work at a local pharmacy of a small city in QLD, Australia. It’s a fairly big store for out here, and have a range of different ages. I’ve just learnt, however, that the junior pharmacy assistants (>18 years old) are only getting $11.56 per hour on weekdays AT MAX. I’ve had a look at the award (code: MA000012) but it only states for pharmacy assistant level 1, which I’m not sure if that includes juniors as well. Even if it didn’t, the pay should be 60% of an adult wage at 17, right? I want to bring this up with the management of our business, but the problem is, is that there’s a clause in my contract that says that employees shouldn’t discuss wages with one another. Is there a way to get around this, or is it more worth to speak with FairWork Australia?…

I cannot take it anymore

I'm 19 coming up on my 20th birthday, I work 6 days a week at a minimum wage job 50 hours a week, barely make 200 a week and my landlords have raised rent twice this month, I live in a military town where everything is more expensive than usual and I have nowhere else to go I walk to my job everyday in unwalkable pedestrian hostile streets just to work myself to exhaustion feeding and serving fat redneck homophobic backwater slobs who literally spit on me and purposely make my job harder only to demonize me for the corporation's rules, I'm stuck I don't know what else to do I have no money to live I'm facing homelessness and I'm told to “work harder” it's just never enough for the corporation's or the government they control, I have no future so why should I even continue being a slave…
