Back when I was working at Shmapplebees, I had a handful of cold symptoms and I was a server so I didn’t want to be sneezing and coughing and having my nose run all over people’s food. I would later find out that I had a low grade fever, but this was afterwards. I tried calling out from the restaurant. We already had an outbreak of Hep A which caused us to close for a while and unable to open until we were cleared by the health department. We all had to get our vaccines and everything before returning to work. I called my general manager (I was working exclusively night shift at the time) and told them that I couldn’t make it in because I was genuinely sick and had a doctors appointment the next morning to get a note. They GUILTED me so badly. Claimed that they were…

This is our problem.
They were right to sack me, and without going into details it wasn't something hectic or egregious. What should I do now? What steps do you take after leaving a job you've been in for so long? Hints and tips appreciated Reddit!!
Advice on drug testing for a new job
I live in Pennsylvania and on Friday I have to go get drug screened and a physical to get my Pennsylvania DOT medical card to drive box trucks but I’m a chronic smoker, does anyone know if they watch you pee cause I grabbed some fake stuff but if I get caught apparently you can get jail time any advice on this? I put my two weeks in to go to another daycare not far….when I came in they told me that I was getting 40 hours a week; and not to mention I was going to get paid $2 more than my last job!! Alright great…. My first week there I was given only 32 hours ……. The next week they made me leave early one day because they had…
In my experience, the corporate/service world is basically filled with employees who are taught to act like mindless drones. To a certain extent, most job fields have become like that. The only people who I actually considered real “free” individuals were people from really tough blue collar jobs like roofing and concrete. An experience, quick roofer is actually quite hard to find. A lot of those guys were essentially “cowboys” for hire who refused to work full time for anyone, but would negotiate pay with different companies on a job-job basis. Those are the only people who I've seen who weren't held to any social standards on the job. Their sole purpose was to get the job done. They were expected to be crazy guys, and the main contractors were actually a bit intimidated by them.
