I am most likely going to work till I die, surviving enough to make ends meet but not enough to enjoy the finer things in life. I don't have world changing intelligence, no super model beauty, just a subpar human man who believed life would be great because I stayed in school and didn't do drugs. The only thing I won't do is have children with hideous genetics and have them suffer in a world where 95% of the population work for the rich elites, and them devoting 90% of their time/energy for their job and 10% for themselves.

Lurker here, sorry if this lacks cogency, but I had a few thoughts: Maybe the problem we have as a society is framing 'work time' as 'company time' instead of 'society's time'. Why should we serve overlords who make money hand over fist from our labor merely because those people had sufficient capital to clear those cost-prohibitive barriers to entry to starting a company in the first place? I’m honestly so sick and absolutely astonished that they would be doing this. I work in a phone store, I love my job. It’s really amazing to me but I just got told they’re installing microphones at our desks to monitor what we talk about. Is this even legal???

They have zero paper documentations to prove that I was supposed to be there today just word of mouth, so I probably won’t get in trouble. If they give me shit for it tomorrow I’m just going to remind them that if I can get in trouble for this, they should also get in trouble for this, because this isn’t the first time someone has completely fucked up the schedule, it’s actually probably about the sixth or seventh time. I don’t know if my supervisor (M50) is weird of just friendly I (F21) want to know if the behavior of My supervisor (M50) is inappropriate or weird. My supervisor is very social but lately it’s been different. He put his hand on my knee (for like 20-30 seconds) on multiple occasions or his hand in my neck. Where do you work and how much do you make?

I think I’m asking for advice but might also just want to vent. I’ve been working for this company for almost 3 years. I’m really good at filling in and helping wherever needed, to the point where I’m the only one one who can help one particular department. A year ago I got a promotion to a position that literally no one else wants. Before I got it, it cost the compay literally 4 people. They took the job, then quit the entire company because it is so stressful horrible. When I took the job the operations manager agreed that I needed a back up. My son (24) and I have worked for a small home rehab company for a few years off and on. Really just for extra money or when I’m between jobs. Recently it got bought out by a larger firm. They called me yesterday and asked for our help in the area to demolish the interior of a home. They offered me $17/hour for as long as I needed which is cool, but they said my son could help but he’d only get $10/hour because he has special needs. The previous company paid us equally. WTF? How is they even close to legal?
