If we start it now we can get it into the political discourse before the presidential campaigns kick off.

A week would imply seven days, right?
Wisdom of the guru
Trying to leave my almost non-existence pay increase , toxic work environment job and finding nothing but 10-15 an hour jobs that “require” multiple years of experience, some without an actual website of their own is simply depressing. Not only this, but being denied multiple times for “entry level” jobs in different career areas is truly an eye opener for me. Considering I've been employed at a fortune 500 company listed in the 30s out of the 500 in a management position for 7 years. How are you even supposed to switch careers without making an unlivable wage and hoping you aren't let go with all the current large companies reducing jobs? How long can this continue? It really makes me think about why American youth can have a substance abuse problem/glamorize fast money and feel hopeless. What is out there for the youth going forward?
“Working until 10 PM… not that bad”
It’s time. No more excuses
I have to say we have to set a date and do this en masse. Let’s say April first. It’ll make it so much sweeter. I’m going to go ahead and say that April 1st we will call a nationwide labor strike. Please spread the word.
Backstory: I think they joined the company the same time as I. However, this is a big company and you can’t really get the chance to talk to everybody unless you’re hypersocial. Me as someone who is asocial I only talk with my peers and have lunch at my desk. I detest small talk so I don’t really talk to anyone else. I’m also ugly and very insecure of myself. They are hot. Being back at the company is fucking boring to be honest, but after seeing them I’ve become curious about talking to them and probably get through my days more exciting. Is it weird if I just find them on teams and ask for morning/afternoon coffee? Or should I just wait for the moment to find them in the hallway and ask in person?
So basically on Friday, my boss had a discussion with me to “check in” since I have been here for a while now. My probation is 3 months and is ending next week. I was told that I was too quiet and did not talk to coworkers as much. Since my role was also an assistant position, I was told there were many times I asked questions that have already been answered which was more work to the managers rather than help them. On Sunday, I started looking for new jobs just in case I didn’t pass probation. To my surprise, my company posted a job ad of a role that was like mine on that day. It had a higher salary and required 1 more year of experience than mine and was not an assistant role however, the tasks were similar to mine. I walked into work today and…
at this large scale company i was: hired in a hr admin role with no hr experience, was told to go through employee resumes to get info, continued doing this while colleague returned from vacation as no one told me otherwise and thought it would be productive to look at why X was hired vs Y or why X skills got them an interview instead of scrolling on twitter in my spare time. boss and i spoke about it, was a miscommunication, nbd, so i stopped doing it immediately. case closed? no, my boss hits me 2 weeks later threatening me with a formal meeting for termination 😐 we had the formal meeting wiht another woman from hr but “we'll move on from it”/nbd/just covering her ass for not telling me. fine. since then higher ups have been harping on about compliance. yawn. waited 2+ months for a salary review…
Worst thing a manager/boss ever said?
I'm curious what was the worst thing (non- harassment related) a boss/ Manager etc ever said to you or your coworkers. I'll start. Worked at a fairly high capacity boarding kennel. We had an all staff mandatory 3 hour meeting one night, and management was talking about discipline for people clocking in late or calling off shifts. A newer employee explained that most of us had to take busses or rideshares (thus late clock ins), or work two or three jobs (related to the call offs), because we didn't earn enough at this place ($11/hr in 2021) to live anywhere near the facility or to have this as our only income. Of course sometimes people slacked, happens everywhere, but it was grueling work and so horribly mismanaged that legit breakdowns on-shift were common amongst the lowest workers (us). We were all doing our best and just being crushed by the…
