I was getting close to the plant entrance about 35 minutes early as I normally do because I have a 3/4 mile walk from the parking lot to my department. As I got to the entrance there were emergency vehicles and the life flight helicopter blocking the entrance to the building. Someone had gotten T-Boned and eventually died from the accident. There was no way to get in, there were even personnel from my company outside monitoring. I was told if I cant get in on time it was a write up for being late (company policy. Thats the handbook talking) That applied to the dozens of us waiting to get in. The only option we had were to park our cars on the shoulder of the road and walk to the building. Im still processing this ridiculous bullshit. I took the punishment out of complete anger.
So there is this employee well call b and this person just sucks has a bad attitude no respect and can not keep up (I work in a factory with a piece rate) so when you're slow we all lose money….we are also a union shop and there is just ongoing concerns about how well b is treated by my immediate supervisor. Since we are a union seniority matters been there longer job preference and shift preference but it goes further there are jobs we do that are easier and jobs that are harder it seems b who hadn't been there as long as most of us gets the easier jobs. I've said something to my union steward but that's another thing if your not tight with them they won't help you. This is vague but I have to be careful. I'm ao done tho my motivation and drive is…
You’re the “young” guy of the office. You do it. I have been at my new job for 10 months now. I work in a small IT shop of 4 people where we provide support to over 400 users. Since I’m the new guy, everyone seems to dump all the leg work on me then tell me “you’re the young guy. Go do this”. But when I bring up how I’m currently taking care of something and that someone should do it I get told to just take care of it cuz the older people in the office are older. They’re all 50+ years old but if it falls within their position description I believe they can at least lend me a hand with tasking. Question: Isn’t getting told “hey do this because you’re the young guy” age discrimination and against the law? Please enlighten me.
Customer Service Feedback
I had a little chat with an assistant through my bank's app today. Afterward, they had a one-question survey (of course I gave her the highest score without reservations because I find it appalling what customer service reps are responsible for and scored on). Afterward, they asked for “feedback” so I sent this. I doubt they'll take it to heart but I've been posting this when dealing with various businesses and will continue to do so because I'm so sick of the same old, “We're experiencing an unusually high volume of calls lately,” which is absolute bullshit. I'm so sick of it! This is what I wrote: “[Company] has the best customer service in the business! However, I had originally called and it was a 40 minute wait with the option of a call back. Yesterday, it was 15 minutes. As a customer and an HR professional, I'm going to…
Question about blue-collar jobs
Hello! I made this post out of sheer curiosity. When I stumbled upon your community, I was shocked. But then I've noticed some statistical bias here – that the most of bizarre situations and cases, that were described here, mostly happened with employees of “service economy”. Do other workers (like – welders, builders, mechanics, carpenters and so on) also are in the same situation?
