Hey everyone, I was gone on vacation last month on time off, starting late November to early December. Reason being was family emergency and I was going back to visit said family during Christmas anyways (I live across the country from them). Now I’m a part time employee at a semi big retail business, and have been struggling to get more hours. I had some back problems that since I had started working have gotten better. However, my manager sees my back pain as a detriment and has cut my hours when I’ve been asking for more and potentially full time, mainly due to the fact she does not want to give me benefits if I got injured at work. I hope this is okay to post here. I know this is a super supportive sub and I'm having a little bit of a pity party and need some clarity. I guess the title says it all. My boss has been slowly cutting my hours over the past several months and has been undermining my decisions and taking responsibilities from me little by little. I'm a manager at a vet clinic and my boss is the practice owner. It's really looking like he's waiting for me to quit so he doesn't have to fire me. I'm super bummed. I've had what I thought was a friendship (I know, I know) for the past almost decade with him and I helped him open this practice almost 5 years ago. Stand up and get paid for your worth

I work at a Valvoline in Oregon and the company is cutting everyones hours to make up for the slow start to the year. I used to work 48 hours a week and now im down to 32. I have bills to pay. What am I supposed to do?

My company offered me a retention bonus if I promised to stay on for 2 years. I should've seen the red flag right there knowing they had been losing people, but I asked before signing if they offered a payment plan if I had to leave before the 2 years. They said yes. Well, again, should've seen the red flag because as soon as I signed they restructured some things and I became the only person doing my position. There was a lot of other shady stuff going on. I ended up job searching and leaving after 6mo of signing the contract. I'm pretty sure I'm obligated to pay it back, but wanted some advice just in case.
