I interned for a radio station when I was finishing college. They had an open position and asked me to apply. It was extremely fun work. We’d go to locations and do games and prize tables with some of the personalities. I loved it. After I interviewed they asked me if I would take the job. I was planning a move in about 6 months which still was tentative, so I wanted to make sure I would get paid enough to save. I also had another job lined up closer to home so my thoughts were gas and car repairs. I asked what the pay was and their tone changed. I was no longer the potential employee they were all excited to have on board. I pissed them off. All for 10/hr (in 2012). I didn’t take the job. I’d spend nearly 100 a week in gas out of a…

Constant you’re indispensable….
Been working for a local university for the last 5 years. Took part in tuition reimbursement and got my master’s degree. Since graduating I have done two things. Applied for a job at the same university in new field. Second presented an option to my current boss that new degree would greatly benefit our department but requested a job reclassification and raise. What’s happened, the job I applied for might be going to another person per a good source. Even though I’m qualified and have to stay at the university for a period of time per their tuition reimbursement. The job reclassification keeps getting “I haven’t heard anything from the higher ups yet.” I continue to do my indispensable work. Like a project I’m doing that a replacement might not be able to because it’s beyond the original job description. While I enjoy the university schedule I know my time…
I’m planning on making a big scene when I walk out on my job. Others will be going with me we’ve been planning this since they don’t believe we deserve raises after RECORD profits. I plan to take a speaker (Say Anything style) to add to the fun. Thanks for any suggestions!
Is this happening to you?
Hi all, I'm currently a full-time college student and working at a part-time IT job at my university in PA. Since the new semester just started, my schedule has been packed with engineering classes and assignments. My manager demanded I let him know my availability of 20 hours which I provided, but he said that in addition, the times when I don't have a conflict with a class or club have to be marked as no preference (meaning that I could work those hours). The manager asked me about every single hour that I am free from 8 AM to 10 PM, Monday to Sunday, and why I am unavailable at certain hours. Personal reasons and work-life balance are not excused, but only classes and club activities are (proof required). I need to have time to do my homework and assignments since they take a while, but also have some…
I work for a pretty large call center corporation. Cushy remote job, no weekends. Not going to say what we do because frankly I don’t want reprisals. In short: We deal in online supply and demand and get products to customers and other businesses and deal with alllllll the inbetween. I started here 6 months ago. I started as a basic customer service rep making $19/hr – higher than the average pay because of my five years past customer service experience in pharmaceuticals. From day one of hiring I expressed my desire to move elsewhere laterally (our company has many departments) and you’re almost always started in support before you move elsewhere. But they say there’s a lot of movement. They say. One of the teams I wanted to go to – let’s call them B2B (not their real name) – was having a very stressful time and was understaffed.…
I starting to feel depressed because I'm starting to see how fucked up the world is when it comes to jobs and how much they pay you and how much apartments cost, it's like the system is working against us
So I just received my EOY evaluation, I got a 2.5/5 (expectation is 3). I had bad history with my supervisor. A little background, my previous supervisor and I got along very well. I worked for him for 8-9 months this year. When he moved to role, my current supervisor was someone that I did not get along with prior to him joining, in fact I complained about him prior to him coming on. He questioned my work alot in meetings without understanding and rarely attended said meetings. Fast forward, when he came on I expressed concern to my boss and my bosses boss. They said there is nothing they can do. Within the 4 months I have been under him, our relationship is not great. I actually reached out to HR about a month ago to tell them my concern. He is known for not treating his employees great…
