At 3am 12000 Google employees have been let go via an automated account deactivation. No warnings, no chance to say your goodbyes. This after they make 10s of billion in quarterly profit and approved $70 billion is stock buyback just recently. Don’t be evil… really?

Learned this from multiple coworkers in my new company, nobody has used more than 1 day of vacation time in a good while because he says manpower is an issue even though its not. If you request more than 1 day it gets denied. Ive got to request 3 days off in 2 months from now and feel paranoid after what Ive heard..
I’m finally learning to value myself.
Spain probed the accounting Big Four
Everyone knows that these companies are meat grinders with not respect for labor laws. Hopefully they will get fined big time and forced to change their way of working. Link: https://www.ft.com/content/01004a13-6f7e-44da-9823-3851af6d76fe
My position was eliminated but I'm the only person who does what I do for the company. Essentially they are keeping me on for a few more weeks to train someone in an existing position how to do my job since my position “doesn't exist” anymore. I'm getting a severance so I'm going to keep working until my term date. What would you do? Would you keep working really hard? Would you slack off? It's weird still working because it doesn't matter what I do anymore.
Looks like I’m about to be laid off…
Worked for a large tech company for over ten years, we have lay offs every year – last year they decimated 90% of my team and restructured but it looks like there will be another severe round in the next few weeks. Best part is, company keeps telling us “not to worry about it” despite it being a fact it is happening AND it being in the press before anything official has been announced. Any advice for those who have been through the same on what to consider?
