I thought I heard somewhere that working from home is way more efficient.
I have fulfill my end of the social contract or I'm homeless, in jail or dead. However, companies can throw thousands of workers into the street because they get to increase their bottom line. So why should I take my obligation to be a good worker/citizen seriously when society and the companies that run it demand I be a good worker/citizen can, and most likely will, treat me with zero respect?

I left my previous job about two months ago on good terms with them and everything was fine, but I just checked my bank account and they sent me 2k out of nowhere. Is it possibly money I'm owed from vacation days/retirement plan contributions or will I have to constantly hold onto this money in case they ask for it back?

I just want to vent. I have a young family, most of my earned time off goes to being home with my kids when they are sick. I'm lucky if I can manage a long weekend for camping once a year. This year I was scolded because I took a long weekend (planed in advance) the same week I had to take a day off because I was sick. On top of it even after 10 years with my company my time off hours are earned based on 40 hours worked. So even if I didn't take sick days off I don't earn enough time to get a full week until late in the year. Meanwhile I watch all the older workers getting big chunks of time off while most don't have any big responsibilities at home because their children are in college or just grown adults.
