Hi, I work home based in México I take calls for a giant american real estate company. Today I was verbally abused by a customer, he was very irate and yelling profanities just for me asking the basic 3 pieces of information to access his account. I told my supervisor that I wanted to release the call or he could take it if he wanted. And he told me all the profanities have to be directed towards me 3 times or he wouldn't assist and I couldn't release the call. I told him I was not willing to take 3 insults, I already took one, that should be enough. He refused to take the call and when I told him that it's a basic human right to not be insulted, he told me that's the policy and on other call centers too and that is my obligation to take the 3 insults. Am I right to refuse to take verbal abuse? I feel like he was trying to gaslight me.
