Hey everyone, I just got suspended from work and unsure if I should move on. To explain, I was working with a coworker and they helped out a customer that essentially did not have payment ,because we only take cash or card. Which caused me to worry cause she secured never took a payment. I believe I told her to notify the manager but it seems she never did. Or if she did the matter was not resolve. 10 minutes went by and he was just chilling and drinking ,so I was wondering if he was ever going to try and pay. Being me I wanted to make sure the drink was paid for ,because of trouble I’ve gotten into before. So, I was urgently discussing with her how he was going to pay. Then the idea of me using my cash tips in exchange of him to Zelle me arose. I was not even sure of the idea until she quickly closed the payment out to cash. Therefore, the drawer was 10 dollars short. And if I didn’t put it back it would’ve been taken out of the tips. I’m not was not sure of the ideas so when she did I had to give him my number , so I could use my own cash to pay for his drink after he paid me with Zelle. I understand that it is my fault for inserting myself ,but I really regret it. They suspended me for cash handling and are staying that it was theft. This situation is really hard for me to handle ,because I have trouble defending myself. And it’s just shocking on how I was trying to be nice and help someone out and got in trouble in their place. Especially since I’m the one who’s suspended and not my coworker. I really could use some advice on how I should be dealing with this situation. (Also dude couldn’t even leave a tip ,so I’m losing a weeks worth of work over a 10 dollar beer is crazy to me.)
