I started a healthcare administrator Director level position last year and the prior person in my position had left quite a few months before I arrived. That being said, there existed a lot of backlog that needed catch up. I spent the first three months of this year addressing that backlog.
Writing this in September 2023 so it’s been almost 10 months on the job. A few months after I was hired, a new CEO started and within one month hired an external consultant to “coach” me.
Last week, got called in to the CEO’s office and told that my immediate manager, who is also C-suite would no longer be my boss. I was told I was being demoted and another Director would assume my title but I would continue to do the work. As a department my predecessor had assistants and coordinators to do the grunt work. I have nobody to accomplish even the smallest tasks like data entry into excel. I was told that I was not projecting “leadership and confidence” towards my peers and other staff. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to do that when I’m validating data for 100s of patient accounts every month and facilitating 7-8 committees on a monthly basis.
I want to call it quits but I’m afraid I won’t be able to find employment in this economy to support my family. I’m not sure if I rubbed the quintessential C-suite sociopathic behavior the wrong way or what?
