I’m sure this has probably happened to many of you. My company asked me if I could come in to work on a Saturday (NOT mandatory), I replied that I wasn’t sure yet as I had to ask my partner if we had anything planned for the weekend. (I work 5 days a week 9 hour shifts Monday-Friday). In all honesty I didn’t really feel like it as I like to give my body a break over the weekend because it is a physical labour job.
Now, work has been busy as of late; this is due to poor planning and unreasonably scheduled due-dates of projects – I get it. But it becomes very tedious when you get asked twice if you’re going to work the shift because ‘these projects really need to be worked on and done by such-and-such day’ and given the ol’ guilt trip. Now I feel like I have to go in tomorrow and feeling judged or there will be a comment made on Monday if I don’t. Thoughts?
