Being salary based has left a bitter taste.

Started my first tech and first salary job about 6 months ago, have been doing really well and getting a lot of praise from my higher-ups. I was aware that salary people in my state typically don't get overtime which kind of sucks, but we don't work that much overtime except 1 day a month. There's a lot of flexibility with my schedule so it seemed to even out for me. Everything was going good so far, until this past week. I was told upfront in the initial interview that each member of my team would work one (full) week including weekends every couple of months based on a rotation. After nearly 6 months I hadn't been put on the rotation yet, TBH I kind of forgot that it was even a thing, but to my surprise I finally got put on it. I figured alright no big deal..Until I found out that I was on call 24/7 the entire week (was thinking core hours), even through the middle of the night, which is when I received the majority of my calls. I have been sleep deprived, unable to leave my home to do basic errands because I need to be near my computer and I've realized I don't get paid for this because I'm a salary employee. On average this company doesn't pay too terribly I make just under 60K but unfortunately I live in a HCOL area and have a lot of medical bills. My needs exceed my income unfortunately. And this place has left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth after this past week. Maybe I'm just complaining too much and I should be lucky that I have a job, but it just feels wrong to be on call 24/7 with no extra pay.
